WHERjiAS many of the infiabitarlts of this province',
regardlcfi, of the allegiance to their Sovereign, of which
they had so lately made fych solemn declarations, have
assisted his Majesty’s rebellious fubjeft* from the other co
lonies in reducing this once happy country to its present
deplorable state of misery and confufion : And whereas a

THE Commons House of Assembly hath ap.
pointed Mr. Goodgion, Mr.’ Seymour,
Mr. Zubly, Mr. Wylly, and Mr. Jenkins, to be
a Committee to enquire into the diitrefles of the
Rack Country People win have taken fucker in
Savannah from the basjparities of the Rebels.
Notice is hereby given, That the laid Commit
tee will meet on Wednesday and-Saturday morn

Clean Rice, For the life of the Refugees and Loyal
Militia, for which he is ready and willing to con
traband allow a reasonable price : And whereas
the Governor is informed that parce’s of clean rice
are daily disposed o;f in Savannah for fcventf en.

it is intended for, he is sorry to find that the
Gentleman who, at the Governor’s request, his
endeavoured to purchale rice, cannot procure it
upon the fame terms, although the payment mull

this publick notification, that rice is wanted on
purchase for the purposes abovementioned, that •
Samuel Hunt Jenkins, Liq is authorized to con-

Gentlemen who have rice to dispose of will please

the prevention of carrying fait and other goods out of town,
as Ihall .appear to me moll effbaual, afTuring me that they
would moft cheerfully concur in ftfch steps as I might fee
expedient to pursue : WHEREFORE I have thought fit,
by and with the advice and consent of his Majesty’s Honor
able Council of this province, to ifTue this my proclamati
on, ftrittly cautioning and forbidding, and I do foibid and
caution, all and every person and nerfons wbomfoever
from trading with any RcbL or enemy, or affording him
any supplies whatsoever, on pain of being prefccuted to
the utmost rigor of the law. And, the better so prevent
any fhch supplies being obtained, I do hereby order and

merchandize, fair, ammunition, or other effcfls whatso
ever, ftu;l irom henceforth be fuffered or permitted to be
carried or transported by land out of the town of Savannah,

PRESENTS his compliments to his friends,
and the gentlemen of the town of Savannah
in general, informs them he has opened a Tavern
in the house belonging tQ Mr. Thomas Flyming,
near Mrs. Tondee's. He has laid in the belt af
lortinent of liquors of* any ill this country, and is
determined to fell as reasonable as possible, for
money only. Those gentlemen who choose—,
to honour him with their company may depend
upon the bed attendance. Private families may be
supplied with the best Madeira, Port wine, and
porter, by the dozen ; draught porter, Jamaica
rum, and loaf lugar. .

NOTICE hereby given. That the Church
wardens and Vestrymen for the parifli of
Christ Church, by virtue of an ad of Aflembly,
p i fifed the 2d day of August last, and recited in the
Georgia Gazette of the 27th day of September last,
and in the Gazettes of the two following weeks,
have ordered that the following sums (to be paid
in gold and silver at the present current rates) ihall
be levied and aflefled on the inhabitants of the laid
farih, to wit:
*1 he sum of Fourpence upon every (lave, Four
pence upon every 100 acres of land ; Seven Shil
lings and Sixpence on every improved lot within
the town of Savannah, Ewen/burgh, Trustees
Gardens, and Yamacraw, and on the hamlets
thereunto belonging; Two Shillings on every lot
unimproved within the limitsaforeiaid; Fourpence
upon every 1001. value of flock of goods on hand
for sale.
All perfohs concerned are hefeby desired to make
their returns without delay to Samuel Hunt Jen
kins, who will attend at his house to receive the
fame, orfTuefday and Saturday mornings, from 8
