As a rule, as our colored people become
property holders, and especially when
they own houses and lands, they become
conservative, aud with fow exceptions,
vote with the whites. This should tend
to innke our people give every encourage
ment to their acquisition of property.
Real estate owners desire the best govern
ment they can secure, and they know
they can obtain this only by voting with
the intelligent wliitos, who compose the
mass of tho Democratic party. They
heed not the harangues nor udvice of the
Radical carpet-baggers aud scalawags, for
they do not believe iu their honesty, and
do not want rulers who will steal from

The management have determined to
have the drawing of the Fifth nnd Last

next. We bolievo now that all tho tick

will bo a full one, but whether nil avg soUk

Tho special object of this card is to

tho Trustees to superintend the counting
of tlio tags representing tho number* of

interests of all nro equally cured for, yet
the same time I would greatly prefer
that as many of those interested as can
ould attend this meeting nnd see each
for himself how perfectly fair and im

Every arrangement has been made for
tho drawing—but little more than a
month remains for the sale of the re

done must bo doue promptly.
