We think we do not exaggerate in saying that there
is no public griovanoe in this city about which com

CoTI0 *-—Hi oar last week’s review, we reported
the market very irregular and unsettled, sellers being
Indisposed to meet the market, and limited sales on
ths basis of 32c. for strict middling.
Friday.—liuu change to note. Holders still firm
in their demands, and buyers indisposed to operate.
About 100 bales were sold.
Saturday.—Advices from New York, indicating a
more settled and active market, induced considerable
inquiry. Buyers, however, were still unwilling to
make any concessions, and only 150 bales were sold.
Monday.—Coder New York advices of a decline in
gold, the market opened with little demand for the
staple. Before the close of the day'some few buyers
came into the market, and 300 bales were gold at the
figures of yesterday.
Tuesday.—The news from New York being more
favorable, holders teemed inspired with more confi
dents) and indisposed to meet' the market.' About
150 bales were sold, on the basis of Sic. for stria lnid-
Uig.
Wednesday. —A better feeliug seemed to pervade
the market to day, with some demand at a alight ad
vance for the better grades. 3oO bales were sold, with
no quotable change in prices.
Thursday.—Thia day having been set apart by the
Legislature as a day of humiliation and prayer, busi
ness was necessarily very much curtailed. Some 2W)
bales, however, are reported sold, at 32@33c. for atrict
to good middling.
Friday.—la spite of a better feeling in Liverpool,
we get nothing but discouraging news from New York,
and there have been few transactions to day. About
60 bales changed hands, at a decline on yesterday's
figures, though many sellers are still holding off for a
reaction In prices, and asking 31c. for a fall Sm of
Liverpool middlings.
With a stock of nearly 19.000 bales at the port, this
would indicate greater confidence than seems justi
fiable, bat that, with seven ships np tar Liverpool,
end several direct orders to be filled for that market,
the hope is entertained that a aeperate Influence will
be exerted, which win render ns less dependent on
the New York market

Review off Use Savannah Market.
Bayahhah, Friday, Nov. 28,1866.
Trade generally has greatly improved. Many
buyers ere here from the interior, end our whole
dealers have little to complain of. Large stocks are
being rapidly disposed of. and fair prices obtained
The most serious drawback, howevar, la the tight
ness of the money market With little aale for cot
and 18.000 bales on hand, representing nearly $300,000,
perfectly immovable, it Is not to be wondered at that
oor merchants are cramped for want of means—
more so when no banking facilities ere extended.
Exchange.—Transactions In sterling are still quit#

Fins Wines.—On Thursday morning last quite,
number of gentlemen assembled at th* wine-cellar ft
Messrs. Geil ft Co., to test the qualities of the wins!
recently imported into this country by that firm
invitation we visited the collar and partook of acme p^
them. We fouud six different kinds of German wines. -
all of them made from the grape grown on the Bhine,<
and all. we are informed, within a circle of three miles.
There w:is the white and red vines, and they are cer
tainly very fine. We understand that tt-l9 the inten
tion of these gentlemen to introduce their wines Into
Georgia, and to open a direct importing house if they
meet with the success which thsy certainly have a
right to expect. The wines they have now were
brought out by Mr. F. Geil to New York, from whence
they were shipped tc Savannah. They are of superior
quality, and may he found at the store of Mr. Schuster,
on the Bay.
Direct Trade with Europe.—The cargo of th*
Bremen bark Georg and Johann, which arrived here
early in the week from Bremen, waa sold yesterday to
Mr. M. S. Cohen on 'private term*. I» consisted of
500 tags Rangoon rice, 40,000 German brick. 2,200
flag-stones, and 100 barrelB East India ala The
eel was consigned to Mr. F. Schuster, who made the
sale, and who. we are informed, intends to open a di
rect trade with Bremen it he meet* with enoourege-
ment. The vea-el had an unfortunately long voyage,
and the rice was somewhat late. The German bricks
ns a cariosity, being about twice the size of our or
dinary brick aud well made, while the ale was almost,
if not equal, to the famons Scotch brands.
Valuable Caboo.—The ship Ellen Hood waa
cleared at the Custom House yesterday for Liverpool,
and takes ont three thousand and fifty-two bales of
cotton. She has 2,818 bales upland ootton,
1,314,492 pounds and valued at $464,681 23.
also 234 bales Sea Island ootton, weighing 75,210
pounds and valued et $60,871 80, The total value of
the cargo is $515,664 09. This vessel Is one of the
fastest that ever left this port, and came her* from
New York in the short specs of three days.
From Boston.—The steamer City of Bath arrived
here yesterday from Boston, and will leave again to
day. The stevedores were at work on her all night in
order to get her ready for sea.
