Wiva? is th > rational ntide of pro-ee-lui e in
cv»es of general debility and nervous pros
tration? Does not reasi.n ieil us tha* judi
cious sfimulation is required. To resort to
violent purgation in such a ciae is as ansurd
as it would be to bleed a starving man. Yet
it is done every day. Yes. this stupid and
ur.piulisophical practice is continued in the
teeth of th vjreat fact that physical weakness,
with all the nervous disturbauc* s that ac
company it, is more certainly and rapidly
relieved by Host otter’s Stomach Bitters than
by any other medicine at present known. It
is true that general debility is often attended
with torpidity or irregu’al ity of the bowels,
and that this symptom must not- be overlook
ed. Dut while the discharge of the waste
matter of the system is expedited or regula
ted, its vigor must be recruited. The Bit
ters do both. They combine aperient and
anti-bilious properties, with extraordinary
tonic power Even while remov : ng obstruc
tions from the bowels, they tone and invig
orate those organs. Through the stomach,
upon which the great vegetable specific acts
directly, it gives a healthy and permanent
impetus to every enfeebled function. Diges
tion is facilitated, the faltering circulation
regulated, the blood reinforced with anew
accession of 'lie alimentary principle, the
nerves braced, and all the dormant power
of the system roused into healthy action: not
spasmodically, as would be the case if a mere
stimulant were a Iministersd, but for a con
tiiigauce. It is in this way that stick extra
ordinary changes are wrought in the condi
tion of the feeble, emaciated and nervous in
valid by the use of this wonderful correct
ive alterative and tonic. Let common sense
decide between such a preparation and a
prostrating cathartic supplemented by a
poisonous astringent like Strychnine or qui
niiia. jantk-liu.

We wonder if ii is generally known
that our friend Maj. Williford, who
has temporarily been living in the

Stock of Groceries and Dry Goods?
Well, such is the fact, and vve welcome,
with open arms and hearts, our genial

parch as rs of goods, we say, go and

act business with so pleasant a gentle

We hope our Town Commissioners
will, at an early day, enlarge tiie area
of the Grave-Yard, and let every fami
ly have ,i space to bury their loved
ones, should death call them hence.—
A well laid out Cemetery and a desire
to beautify the last resting place of
the dead, reflect a higher grade of civi
lization in a community, than grounds
left to grow up in briars, weeds and
tangled shrubbery.
Now, that a site for onr Cemetery
has been selected, it occurs to us
that Erwin street should be lengthen
ed. so as to make a convenient walk
for our citizens when they desire to
visit the sacred spot that holds the
ashes of their departed ones.
We are pleased to learn that the
new Superintendent of the W. & A. R.
11., Mr. Blodgett, has decided to give
no preference to any one, or to any
Company, as to coal, but to deliver te
all impartially, both on the line of Jhe
Road, and Atlanta. Cartersville may
now expect a supply. We heartily ap
prove this wholesome business-like de
cision, and hope that the much need
ed monthly payments will soon begin
to be dep-sited in the State Treasury.
Wlat is the Meaning? —We hear
that money is tight everywhere in our
city, and we can not understand why.
There is no port on this coast where
shipping is more lively than at Savan
nah. There is at present over 70,000
bales of cotton on hand, and wo will
call them worth $125 per bale, making
the total amount $8,750,000. — Savan
nah News.
For the last deoa le, all legislation
iu this Stase has been unfriendly to
capital, discriminating against its se
curity when loaned to those iu need.
The “so-called” relief laws passed du
ring the war was a sad evil to the
whole State, and the present Home
stead law, has destroyed confidence
between the leuder and tfie borrower.
The capitalist is denounced in all pop
ular harangues as a Shylock, and lie is
held up as the “sura of all villainies,”
if in the kindness of his heart, he has
loaned his money to the needy, and
should ever want it back again. To
protect himself, be now sends his mon
ey out of the State, and iuvests it in
other States, or Government bonds,
thus depit ting our own of ils cap
ital. No wonder we complain of the
scarcity of money wl en the excess is
sent away to be loaned to those who,
by their laws, are compelled to pay
their debts. With what face can we
invite capital from Europe or the
North, to be used iu Georgia, when
we know the prudent of the State, are
sending it hence. We hope the new
Legislature will pass some act, looking
to the security of capital at home, and
show, at least, that it is not unfriendly
to those control it. Will not the
Press speak out in behalf of home cap
ital ?
fiST We are requested to announce

Humeian Grape.
We are brought under obligations
to Messrs. Hasbrouck A Bush cell, the
Proprietors of the lona Island Nurse
ries, N. Y.j for their pamphlet circulars*
setting forth the claims of the Eume
laii Grape. From the numerous cer
tificates of reliable parties, in different
sections of the country, we readily con
clude that thisis the ultima lh ale in the
grape line. It is recommended in the
strongest terms both for its edibie and
wine-making properties. Its strong
points iu comparison with other varie
ties, are chiefly these:
The vigor of its growth, the del
icacy of its flavor, the tenderness of its
flesh, and in its being the only Ameri
can grape which competes successfully
with foreign grapes in its wine pro
ducing properties. Wo are glad to
iearu that these gentlemen have ap
pointed a reliable aud efficient agent
in this place, in the person of Colonel
J. W. Pritchett, who will receive aud
forward all orders for this, and other
varieties of grapes. The prices seem
to be exceedingly low iu comparison
with those charged for some of the
same varieties in this community last
fall. We hope our citizens generally,
will avail themselves of this opportuni
ty of obtaining from a reliable source
this most delicious, healthy and indis
pensable of all the small fruits. See
