A Happy Spot.
One of our ex; binges Ins found the following
happy place to live. It says : “la Kewaunee Cos..

Lookout tor Counterfeit Money.
An Atlanta firm, on Thur- lay of last week, re
ceived a S2O) remittance from Florida, in which
were fifteen counterfeit $lO National Bank notes.
Unless you desu n to ruin us, please don’t pass one
on us.
A Warning.
The law of “c mse ami efIW-t.” is thus expounded
by one of our ;u ately lou: ■’ 'l'- xt- cotemporaries
—the Marshal Times —and we eonv the notice, en
tire, without comment. The editor says : “Oneof
our subscribers supped his paper. In less than a
week he was kicked by a horse, his wife ran away,
his only child was bitten by a rattle snake, and the
poor mau died of lock jaw !”

DIED,
Hear Rockford, Ala., Jan. 5, 1871, Mr. JOHN
CONAWAY, of a disease of the Lungs, and partly
from the effect of a fall received some time ago.
The deceased was born in Sparta, Ga., September
4 1804 His father soon after removed to Putnam
county, in which county he was raised. He re
moved to Newton county about the year 1822, and
here married Miss Lydia Hand. After having raised
a large family here, he removed to Alabama in 1858
where, in a quiet spot, near Hatchet Creek, he spent
the closing years of his pilgrimage. Ilia life was
made np largely by disappointments, misfortune
and adversity. Those whom he trusted generally
proved only' pretended friends. Truly, Alabama
was to him what it was to the Indian—a place of
rest, lie left many evidences of his preparation
for the heavenly r?st. A.
