pen from the floor, when another passing
along behind, snapped his fingers quick
under the drinker’s ear, and caused him
ou a sudden to eject the contents of his
mouth over the pedagogue’s bald pate. —
Standing upright, with his face and hair
dripping, the master shouted:
j “Who done that ?”
The party unanimously cried out, “Jim
Gun, sir.”
“James Gun, what did you do that for?”
Jim, appalled at the mischief he had
done, muttered that it was not his fault—
that Tom Owen snopt him.
This changed the direction of old Lamb

“Did you snap gun ?”
The culprit, trembling with fear, mut

AND UPSON COUNTIES.
H aving purchased the right of Massey'spate/ilt wrought
Iron Screw for the above named Counties, I am
prepared to furnish Screws that will do better packing
and waste less Cotton, and last, not only one man his
life-time, but his children and children s children “even
unto the third and fourth generations.” The Screw
can he jmt up inside the Lint Room, and worked by
band. Three hands can puck 5l)0 pounds with ease—s
can pack 1,000. if wanted. It can be had by applying
tomcat my place, ‘ better known as the Kennedy
place, or to W. B. Cunningham, Thundering Spring, or
to It. F. Palillo, Double Bridges.
GEO. A. CUNNINGHAM.
This is to certify that I have purchased one of Mas
sey’s Patent Iron Screws from Mr. Geo. A. Cunning
ham, and have packed my last year's cop of Cotton
with it, of 35 bags. It is the best Screw for packing
Cotton that I have yet seen. I cheerfully recommend
it to all planters instead of the Wood Screw.
t J. Alford.
Having seen the performance of the above Screw, vve
fully concur in the above statement, viz.: that it is the
heft Screw now in use for packing Colton, and heartily
recommend it to all planters.
