MOTHER TELLS HOW SAXO SALVE
CONQUERED ECZEMA.
“Last fall we noticed small rough
and red spots coming on baby's
hands. The skin was very dry and
ghe kept scratching them until they
would bleed. We lost a good deal of
sleep with her. Finally we took her to
the doctor and he treat®d her several
weeks, but it kept spreading until we
had to keep her little hands tied and
dress and bandage them geveral times
@ day they were so sore, and we used
everything we could hear of for ecze
ma. Finally our druggist told us about
Saxo Salve. We tried it and one and a
half tubes has entirely cured her. Her
little hands are smooth and not even
scarred, and we are so glad to tell
others what Saxo Salve has done for
us. Mrs. M. Stephenson, Lebanon, Ind.”

Capital Removal Bill
Comes Up on Monday
Atlanta, July 24.—A practical
}agreement has been reacned within
‘the rules committee of the house,
‘whereby the Macon capital removal
bill will be fixed as a special and
continuing order fer next Monday.
The rules committee held a two
hour session in the speaker’s room
this morning before the house met,
but the capital removal bill was not
among the “special orders” reported
out. It is said that there was no
question raised in committee as toi
making this bill a special order. ‘
However, Representative Defore
has practically secured an agree
ment to make it the special order
for Monday.
In this cornection and as further
evidence that the city of Atlanta is
considerably worried over this cap
ital removal campaign, it is said the
chamber of commerce has twice
voted down the proposition for meet
ing the Macon delegation, when it
comes to town, with a brass band
showing them every courtesy. The
brass band idea was twice raised in
meetings of the chamber and twice
snowed under.
Since the Macon Telegraph car
ried a story telling of the hard-work
ing gum shoe committee of Atlanta’s
big business men spending sleepless
nights and feverish days trying to
choke off this capital removal
scheme, it has caused no end of talk
here, and quite a few are wondering
how the fact leaked out. But so
far no denial of the exact truthful
ness and correctness of that storyl
has come from any source.
Lorimer to Stump Illinois
to ‘Expose Facts’ in Case
‘ PR
Chicago, July 24.—Ex-Senator
Lorimer has announced that he will
canvass the state of Illinois from
end to end and explain to the peo
ple the facts in the case of his elec
tion to and expulsion from the Sen
ate. The announcement was made
before a gathering of 2500 of his
friends at 2 meeting in Orchetsra
hall. '
“I will take the stump and I will
tell the people of Illinois from Cario
to Galena the truth about the Lori
mer case,” the deposed senator as
serted. “There will be no mincing
of facts. I am going to speak the
plain truth about those who have
talked about me. I owe it to my
self, my family and friends.”
Lorimer said he willingly would
meet any of his enemies in debate.
Plans for the state tour were under
way today.

Donates $lO,OOO---Assess
ment Levlied on Gamb-
New York, July 24,-Spurred
on by the information that J. P.
Morgan and other millionaires of
New York had volunteered unliro
ited financial support to District
Attorney Whitman in the interests
ot law and order to assist him in
running to earth the slayers of
Herman Rosenthal, the gambling
king, the gambling fraternity,
gunmen and denizens of the un
derworld generally have united in
raising a tund for the defense of
the gamblers rnd gang fighters
now under arrest for the killing
or who may yet be arrested. Al
ready $250,000 has been raised.
Gamblers have been assessed
from $l,OOO to $5,000 for the fund.
The assessments vary according to
the size of the gambling houses
operated by the men who have
been asked to contribute.
While this fund is being collect
ed by their opponents, the police
are sending broadcast descriptions
of men suspected of the actual
murder.
WEBBER SAID TOIBE READY TO
OONFESS
The police are alse trying to
secure a confession from Louis
Webber, owner of *ke gambling
den where the assassins met before
killing Rosenthal. It was rumor
ed today that he was ready to tell
all he knew.
W ebber’s decision to inform on
his acquaintances was hastened, it
is said, by a visit made to him in
the Tombs by his young wife, She
urged him to accept District At
torney Whitman’s offer of immuni
ty for his confession. It is believ
ed, too, that the man’s counsel,
H. T. Marshall, urged him to ac
cept the offer. -
Sam Paul, the gang leader now
under ‘srrest, is the most defiant
prioner ever taken, To show his
contempt for the detectives who
are striving to get at the bottom
ot the Rosenthal murder, the gang
leader subscribed $lO,OOO to the
$250,000 fund for the defense of
the men now under arrest and myi
others who may be taken into
custody,
The writ of habeas corpus sued
out to free Louis Webber, a sus
pect in the Rosenthal case, was

It Looks Like Break In
Ranks Behind Senafor
Atlanta, July 23 —Representative
Hooper Alexander’s speech on the
Western and Atlantic extension bill,
which was defeated in the House to
day, in which he attacked Hoke
Smith in almost as vigorous a man
ner as he recently did Gov. Brown,
has been the talk of the capital to
day.
Mr. Alexander has been about the
closest and stanchest personal friend
of Senator Smith in this section of
the state, yét now he charges him
with complete failure in the matter
of curbing excessive railroad rates,
and says that Mr. Smith has aband
oned the issue which he made him
self. ‘
Mr. Alexander declared he warn
ed Mr. Smith years ago that his pan
acea for rate regulation through a
commission would result in hopeless
failure. He stood by him, he said,
although he did not believe in the
plan. His remedy was state owner
ship of railreads and he tried to urge
that upon Gov. Smith, is said. In
concluding Mr. Alexander said:
“Mr. Smith has abandoned state
issues. His former followers are
scattered and without a leader.
Rates remain excessive; discrimina
tions continue extravagant and un
checked; oppressive and vexatious
practices continue to exasperate the
public and the swarms of lobbyists
that for a season were driven from
this city by the fierce anger of an
awakened people, are gathering
again, ready soon to dictate the leg
islation of the future as it used to
dictate legislation in the past.”
Thus Mr. Alexander accuses Mr.
Smith of failure in his plans and
abandonment of them after Mr:
Smith as Governor had secured
practically everything he had asked
for in the way of power through an
enlarged commission to regulate
rates.
