ors have just finished the work of
paving the streets here, and the town
has some of the best streets In the
state. The wide sidewalks are of
cement and the streets are of vitri
fied brick with cement foundation. A
park 20 feet wide occupies the center
of the street In each block and the
electric light and telephone poles are
to be moved to side streets.

pletely Wrecked.
Belfast, Ga, Dec. €.—The boiler ln
the machine shop of the. Hilton &
Dodge Lumber Comftony hero ex
ploded today and completely demol
ished the boiler room. The crown
sheet and grate bars were found sev
eral yards away.
Frank Isanhowcr, who was
charge of the boiler, v was blown
eral feet from the building, and was
found after the explosion in an un
conscious condition. His hands are
badly burned, and his head and face
nre badly bruised. He was taken to
the office of Dr. Simmons where his
wounds were dressed. On his right
cheek is a gash about two Inches
long.

to the Springfield armory. The pres

ed with this arm as a hunting weap
on.
This rifle, manufactured with a few
Improvements, will be issued to the
regular service ln the near future.
About forty thousand will be requir
ed for this issue and as soon as a
supply sufficient for a reserve Is com
pleted the national guard may expect
an exchange, and will be fully equip
ped with this new arm In place of
