OUTSIDERS WORK
ING FOR BOYS.
•
Prominent Citizen oi Irwin County
An Unofficial Request it Made of the
Prison Committion by a Prominent
Railroad Man, Who Thinks the Two
Boyt Ought to be Saved from the
Gallows,
Atlanta, Dec. 20—The prison com
mission has been asked to recommend
commutation to life imprisonment in
the case of the two Rawlings boys,
Milton and Jesse, who were sentenc
ed to be hanged at Valdosta next
month along with their father, J. G.
Rawlings and a negro, all of whom
have been convicted of the murder
of the Carter children, and denied a
new trial by the supreme court.
The request as received by the
commission is in somewhat irregular
form and will have to come in the
shape of a regular application for
commutation before it can be consid
ered.
The letter received by the commis
sion today is from J. A. J. Hender
son of Ocllla, Irwin county, president
of the Ocllla and Valdosta Railroad
Company, and asks that the commis
sion recommend commutation to life
imprisonment in the case of the two
boys, Milton and Jesse, on account of
their age and because of the fact that
they were Influenced In the commis
sion of the crime by their father. Mr.
Henderson states that the matter was
discussed In the church which he
attended last Sunday, and In talking
of it elsewhere he has found the sen
timent very much against the hanging
of the two boys for the reasons stat-
ed. No appeal, however, is made in
behalf of the old man Rawlings or of
the negro who took part in the crime.
This Is the first time the Rawlings
case has been brought to the atten
tion of the prison commission since
te decision of the supreme court re
fusing them a new trial. Write the
present request la not in regular form
there is no doubt that a formal appli
cation in behalf of the Rawlings boys
will be made and that hard work will
be done to save treir lives.
Attorney John R. Cooper who rep“
resented them In the trial ,has an
nounced his Intention of taking the
case to the supreme court of the Un
ited States on the ground that the de
fendants were denied the due process
of law In the matter of selectioon of
Juries. In the event that he should
do this it may delay the execution
somewhat. The prison commission
will not take the cases up for consid
eration in any event ns long as they
are pending in any of the courts.
MAD HORSE WRECKS HOUSE.
Neighbors Finally Shoot Animal Be-
lieved to Have Been Crazed.
Wadesboro, N. C., Dec. 20.—Mad
dened by the “blind staggers,” or, as
many people believe, hydrophobia, a
horse which had broken out of Rob
ert Redfern’s stable (lashed into the
residence of John W. Gulledge yes
terday. The crazed animal first dash
ed about the kitchen, kicking the
stove to pieces and smashing crock
ery, furniture and window panes.
Then it entered the dining room and
made a general wreck of It.
Neighbors summoned by the noise
finally shot the animal. They found
Mrs. Gulledge prostrated from fright
and sent for a physician. While on
its way to the house the horse at
tacked several animals and also at
tempted to bite several persons.

Everybody Knows What they are, but
Everybody Does not Know What
Will Cure Them—Mr. Dlmmock
Tells the People o. Valdosta, Ga.
Being asked one day in hU store
the question, “What 1s good for bron
chitis?” Mr. Dimmock answered:
“The best way I can te:; you Is to
ask you to read this letter from Mrs.
S. H. Harvard, of Valdosta. We
have lots of such cuses right here at
home. It reads as follows:
“For five years I was troubled with
a terrible cough and bronchitis. i
tried a great many different prepara”
tiona without obtaining any relief.
1 could not sleep, and I became weak*
could scarcely walk, coughing day
and night. I took Dillingham's Plant
Juice (Tough Cure, which vis a God
send. The flrst bottle proved a bless
ing. I had not taken half of it before
I noticed a change for the better. I
took four bottles In all, and am en
tirely cured and In perfect health.'
“Now I have been talking up Dlir
Ingham’s Cough Cure to the people
of Valdosta tor a long time," con
tinued Mr. Dlmmock, "and I suppose
some people think I am craxy on the
subject, but really I hear such mar
velous results from Dillingham’s
Plant Juice Cough Cure all the time
that I believe It to bo the greatest
remedy for coughs' colds, bronchitis
