ACTIONS A STORY OF CRIME
IS TOLD.
Miss Carrie Lee had a Strange Hai-
lucination That Somebody was
Planning to Take Her Life—She
Also Told Story of Love and of a
Fruitless Visit to Nebraska.
Atlanta, Feb. 27—Mias Carrie Lee,
a well dressed young lady, who
claims that her home Is near Macon
acted so strangely at the Terminal
station last night that the police,
had to take charge of her. Disap
pointment in marriage, It la said, Is
at the back of her apparently unbal
anced mind.
The young woman went into the
ladles’ waiting room and remained
there some time, acting queerly. The
station maids noticed the woman and
her strange conduct and reported the
matter to the officials. She had to
change cars in Atlanta for Macon
but refused to get on her train as
serting she was afraid she would be
killed.
She was laboring under the hallu
cination that men were seeking her
life and this caused her much fright-
Finally the matter was reported to
Policeman Pearson and he decided
it best to take the woman into cus
tody. He did this and sent her to
the police station In a cab.
Police Captain Mayo Interviewed
the young woman, who talked to him
In a rambling and disconnected man*
ner
To Captain Mayo and Officer 'Pear
son she related the story of her dis
appointed love, convincing the police
that this affair caused her reason to
be dethroned.
Miss Lee was traveling alone, and
from this the police believe her niind
became affected just before she
reached Atlanta, as It Is thought she
would have been detained elsewhere
had she displayed signs of insanity.
Shfi stated thnt she was In love
with a man in Nebraska, and that he
had Induced her to leave her Georgia
home and go to him, promising her
they wpuld'get married. She did as
was requested, making the long jour
ney alone, happy In the thought that
sho was soon to wed and become the
life companion of tne man who had
won her heart. AccorJing to the
young woman, however, sho wns
doomed to a terrible and disastrous
disappointment. She said that when
she arrived In Nebraska her lover
declined to keep his promise and she
wns cast adrift.,
Gloomy anl morose, with a bur
dened and crushed heart, she began
the homeward journey. The heavy
weight. It is belleVed, was too much
for the frnll young woman and before
she reached Atlanta her reason had
failed.
Miss Lee appeared some better
this morning and was sont on to her
home. Sho wns taken to the Termin
al station by Call Officers Dunton
nnd Gallaher and placed on hoard
the Macon train, being given Into the
special care of the conductor She did
not seem to he afraid when she real
ized the conductor was to protect
her.

It Telia of the Full Confession Which
the Assassins of the Former Gov
ernor Have Made—Story of Twen
ty-Six Other Murders and Consplr-
aciea it Also Told.
Boise, Idaho, Feb. 37—Governor
Goodling, of Idaho, tonight issued a
statement \ylth respect to the assas
sination of former Governor Frank
Steunenberg, which says In part:
“I want to state officially that Har
ry Orchard hat male a full confes
sion as to thewnanner and motive of
the assassination of former Governor
Steunenberg, telling of the plans and
giving the names of those making
them. The assassination was the
third attempt that Orchard made
against his life. This confession was
made by Jamef McParland, In that
confession Orchard implicated all
those now. under arrest and others,
Including J. L. Simpkins. He told
the story of twenty-six murders, the
result of conspiracies In which all
the accused parties were Interested.
AVhen this story is given to the pub
lic, I believe it. will be the greatest
narrative of crime which the world
knows.
‘.There has never been any doubt
as to the truth of Orchard’s confes
sion among those who are familiar
with tho crimes committed in Idaho
and Colof&do, and charged to the in
ner circle of the Western Federation
of Miners. He told me that no prom
ises of clemency or reward had been
held out to him by McParland or any
one else.
“The finding of the bomb at Judge
Goddard’s gate (Denver) and many
other things which will later be made
known at the trial, have proved the
truthfulners of drehard's confession
boyond all question of those familiar
with his story.
“The state desires to secure jus
tice. There is no thought of punish
ing the Innocent or waging war on
any labor organization^
“There la about a fair
trial. No higher class Of citizens can
J>e found than those who live In Can-
you. county. There may be preju
dice againsv any class of people, be
they laborers or capitalists. I am a
firm believer in organized labor, hut
I feel there must be more of an ef
fort made by the members of such or
ganizations to select more high char
acters as their leaders..”
