minutes allowed for the meal ; but

We were in Gainesville the other

Mengs & Castlebury have the largest

We are to have one or more we«Xv"

The merchants hercAire overcrowd

found its way to our market.
Prof. L. M. Laudrum, of Ogle- i

BEI.I.TGN BOASTINGS.
Editor Georgian : A great deal
has been said about us boys drinking
a.id lying around the barroom. We
have been cussed and discussed; but
the Good Templer boysknd girls keep
our company, and the old folks receive
us in their houses and make us just
as welcome as their brothers and sis
i tors. Then are we not as good as the
Good Templers? Yes; and more
acceptable, from the fact we are more
• popular with the oldfolksand girls of
the Lodge than the young mi n of »he
order. This assertion is a fact, and
i they can't deny it. We feel sorry for
the boys; but have the drop on them,
and intend to keep it.
1 And still another fact—when one
of our class marries a Good Templet
girl that ends her Good Templerism
" --she never more is seen or heard in
their Hall. The Lodge is forgotten
. and the order a dead letter with her.
1 We are never asked by the old folks
and young ladies of the Lodge to join
them. We nevi rliava been pled with
to reform and join them, never! We
8 seem more popular as we are, and
what is the use for us to join them and
. sign away our rights. We car: go in
’ to a barroom (rear door) on the Sab-
- bath day and get a bottle of whiskey
and go to our own place and drink
feely—eat a few spice cloves, go to a
Good Templers house, tell them that
’ such a thing as intoxicating liquor
never went down our throats, go to
( church with the family and all Is well,
hut let a Good Templer undertake
' the job, and lie will certainly fail—we
mean a young man. We arc on the
big side, we go slow but sure. We
f have the advantage, wecan rum more
; young men than any one else. We
can make a beautiful and peaceful
home a perfect hell here on earth ; we
{ can drag down to degradation, rags
, and ruin the high boriubeauty. Wo
care not for the Headings of the bro
ken hearted mother, wife, or sister,
’ who lias been brought down to star?
- vat ion and degradation by our means
—why should we ? when we never
have been taught by even an angelic
young Temperance woman to reform ?

Rev. E. I Smith has been appointed

here who will regret ids departure.—
We wish for him a pleasant and pros

Dr. YV tikes, of Gainesville has ac
cepted the call of the Oconee Baptist
church. It is an excellent choice, and
we congratulate the church on
their success in securing so excellent

j Rev. J. W. Baker has been appoint
