dim tries. Now place the value
of tho farm products of the wes
tern and northern states at $575,-
000,000, which enormous amount
is exclusive of cotton money, and
subtract the sum of southern pro
ducts, and wo liava $30,000,000 in
favor of northern and western
farm labor. Now the point is,
how does this comparison of the
valuation of the products of the
different sections comparo with
the population, north and south?
It would seem thnt the pro rata
per capita is in favor of the south,

The corn crop of the preseut
*' year is estimated to be the largest
ever made iH„the , United States.
. Somewhere in the neighborhood
of 2,000,000,000 bus., or about 40
huslieb per head. This Vast ntn-
unt of corn at 25 ots. per bushel
is worth five hundred million dol-
\ lars.^ Supposing that 10 bushels
'• per head would be lequired for
the support of tho people of the
j ; United States, that would be five
1 . hundred million bushels, leaving
„• a surplus ol 1,500.000,000 bushels
for the various demands outside
fl? CS bread, and for export, etc. The
pro rata of our southern sunny
land estimated to be one fourth
of this surplus, at the g nerally
ruling price, at corn gathering
time, 40 cts. per bushel, would be
$150,000,000, add to this the value
of six million bales of cdttou at

There is a committee appointed
to superintend the whole work,
and they will perform their du

three good springs on the place
and bold branches on either side.
The place is suid to resemble Salt
Springs very much. The follow

find mentioned somowhore in tho

want, aud that is the place to go
anil do your trading. The mer
chant that advertises liberally

evinces a spirit of push aud en

Colton picking is all the go iu

are gloomy, and farmers aud mer-

look. The health of the commu

revenue men drop iuou some of
our citiz us occasionally. Better
let whiskey alone. Our Sunday
schools are still prospering, great

Please correct the mistake with

It should have beeu placed at
