Tho Pittsburg Stockman sug
gests that ton mnuy farmers are
inclined to put off many uecessa-
i v jot s until the time comes whon
the necessity is m ule most ap
parent. Tlius many leave nil
their draining and ditching until
spring, when the ground is ful
of water, the worst aud most in
convenient time for such work,
Every farmer knows whether a
field needs draining without wait
ing for it to be covered with wa
ter. Look your farm over now,
decide where draining is most
needed, and go ut it as soon as
you can get the j >b finished this
full, and have your land ready to
work two or three weeks earlier
in tho spring. It is almost im
possible io lay a file drain well in
clayey soil when soaked with wa
ller. The clay pack so tightly us
to become almost water-proof
preventing the water flowing into
the tile. No work on the farm
gives better returns thau careful
draining.
