Died.
On Monday evening, at the resi
dence about six miles from town, Miss
Joanna McKinnon, daughter of Mrs.

She had eaten dinner as usual and
retired to her room to lie down, and
was shortly afterwards found dead.
She was a most estimable young lady
and her loss will be greatly deplored
by her many relatives and friends.

What Can be Done by an Average
Farmer.
H. C. Adorns In Milwaukee Seutlue 1.
It is not impossible for any>farmer,
who hss common sense, industry, the
best knowledge of dairying obtainable
in this meeting, and eighty acres of
good land to keep sixty cows on his
farm. He can pasture twenty acres,
use twenty for soiling, tweuty for hay
and, twenty for ensilage. He can
hire all labor needed for ?500_and
buy sixty tous of feed for 8720.
Good cows, well fed, will average 250
pounds of butter each, or 15,COO for
the sixty.
He can sell his butter at twenty-
five cents per pound or 83,750. He
will have 300,000 pounds of skimed
milk, worth 20 cents per 100, or 8600
The calf product, if the herd consists
of grades, will be worth 8300, a total
revenue of 84,450, with ?” outlay of
81,200 and an immense amount of
hard work and thinking on the part
of the manager While the., result
given may secm’cxtravgant and unat
tainable, they are clearly within reach.
There are hundreds of men in Wis
consin who get 25 cents per pound for
butter, scores of men who get over
230 pounds of butter per cow, any
number whoso calves average8-> each,
and thousands, who get .over. 20 cents
ler hundred for skim milk. Very few
