DIVORCED FROM MILLIONAIRE
Former Thomasvltle Woman Saps-

Tbs final divorce decree separating
Washington Boiklsy a Brooklyn mil
lionaire politician and contractor from
Chipola Viola Bulkley, formerly ot
Thomasvills, was granted last weak,
The case has been in court for eighteen
months and was intensely dramatic.
Mrs. Bnlkley Is a young woman, who
was for some time a resident of Thomas-
Tills. She was the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Wiggins. Mr. Wig
gins was in the grocery and liquor bus
lness here until about six years ago and
the family it well remembered. The
young son, a fourteen year old boy
went as a maaoot in the Spanish-Ameri
•an war to Cub*. The family moved
to Wajoross whore Mr. Wiggins still
nridsa, as a useful citizen. He is a
bookseper there and is doing well. ‘
Miss Wiggins who Is described as an
anally pretty and attractive married
in Waycross, a young railroad employe
named Sidney Lanier, whose tamer
conducted a Jewelry store .there. Mr.
Lanier, aocording to tho New York
American, whleli describes the trial, was
a nephew of Ueogu'a great poet, Sidney
Lanier and waa blmsnt a poet. Snortlv
after their marriage he died.' Mr. Bulk-
ley while ou a southern trip met the
altraotlve young widow and after a
brief and runiauuc courtship they wens
married.
The New York Amerioanaaya:—“The
domestic troubles of Bulkley began the
first day after his marriage, when ids
young wife declared that the did not
love him and had only married him
for his money. Three days later the
aged man waa arretted *nd,draggedinlo

wept at the charges made by his young
wife and begged her to oorne back to
him.’ They agreed tu try again, and for
several months lived peacefully, though
Mr. Bulkley aveis.jnot happily, togeth
er.”.,
The atorr ot domestic infelicity aa
told by the American brings in the
name of Henry E- Hngheson ot New
York, who previous to his being named
as ooempoodent committed suicide to
esoape arrest for the embezzlement of
$100,000. In closing the American says:
Attorney George Robinson, who carri
ed on the long fight for Mr. Bnlkley, said
last night that Mrs. Bnlkley had re
turned to her parents in Waycross, Ga.
Mr. Bulkley i* at his Benaonhurst bouse,
a nervous wreck from the strain which
he has gone through.
hi an admission made by Mrs. Bulk-
ley, she is alleged to hare said of her
husband and marriage:
It waa his gold that lured me. I
tried to endure him for the
sake of it, but wheu I looked
into the face* of my children and saw
reflected the lights and shadows, the
gentleness and kindness of my dear de
parted husband, who is sleeping at
Thomasrille, Ga Ioooldendnre it no
longer."
Inquiry of the local officials fails to
•how that Mr. Lanier is buried here,
and ths reporter probably substituted
the name of this city for Waycross.
