committed several months ago on the
person of Mr. William Vernier. The
parties wore driving in a buggy freiu

Tho evidence showed that ail had been
drinking, and a quarrel arose iu which
Yarnier’s arm was badly cur. The ju
ry returned a wrdict of guilty and «.
commended that the defendant be pun
ished as for a misdemeanor. This
means a fine, or short imprisonment or
both, iu the discretion of the judge.
