last Friday night, the following of

morial Association were elected for
the ensuing year: Miss Bennie Jack-
son, President, Miss Madge Morgan,
Vice President and Mr. B.F. Hawes,
Secretary. With such an excellent
selection of officers to manage the
affairs of the Associa’.ion, it Is safe
to predict that the next Memorial
Day will be appropriately observed.

won for the Association.in commemo

evening was enjoyed by a number of

would venture upon the waters, and

Mr. H. O. Allen has just closed
out a sale of a laige tract of land
which lie owned near Tallahassee
Fla., embracing 12,160 acres. W<

purchased by parties from Oshkosh,
Mich and the price paid was $250,-
000. The trade was co'nsuinated
through Mr. W. W. Palmer who has
been working up the deal for some
tjme. The lands were purchased lor
lumbering purposes.
Mr. L. D, Cleveland, formerly
of Smithport, Pa., has arrived in the
city and assumed control of the Ho
tel Wainmnn as successor to Dr.
Eugene Elder, resigned. The new
manager is a young man of pleasing
address and will no doubt sustain
the popularity *of this excellent
hotel. Dr. Elder goes from here
to Buffalo, N. Y.
Dr. R. L. ILicks_ and family left
Tuesday for Indian Springs where
they will spend the summer, both Dr.
and Mrs. Hicks being in bad health.
We hope that they will have a pleas-

health may be entirely regained.
Messers Joe McFarland, W. W
Powell and Douglas Harrell spent
seyeral days the first of the week on
Spring Creek fishing. They report
the waters too high for good fishing
but say that they caught a sufficient
supply lor their trip.
