About Chi. sir ai rime.
The Macon News in discussing the
approach of Christmas, among other
things offers this timely advice to
those especially who are permitted
to enjoy the wealth of this world.
It is well that at least once a year
the aged become young again—tbe
men become free hearted, happy boys
and the women pure, beautiful, lova
ble girls, all happy in jov and frivol
ity with the real hoys and girls.
Christmas is a time of good cheer and
happiness to alt—peace on earth
and guod will toward men—a time
to he happy ourselves anrl a time to
make others happy, to remember old
friends with gifts ami make new
Iriends by happy, buoyant spirits.
We should all be in love with tint
whole world during Chrisraas time.
If any of us have 1 ad differences it is
now the time to discard those differ
ences, to forgive ami forget,
The show windows of stores arc
filled with pretty things and articles
lo suit any pocketbook can be found,
which will make nice, useful presents
for anybody, ami while we are happy
ourselves and engaged in buying
presents for loved ones, it is well to
remember that there are always those
in a community less fortunate than
ourselves, whom fate has dealt un
kindly with, whom Santa Claus does
not visit ut Christmas times. We
should look carefully after the wel
fare of this class.
Renumbering the words of the
Master that “it is more blessed to
give than 10 receive,” and that we
can best make ourselves happy by
making others happy, it will be well
for shoppers with f ill purses to think
of some poor person, perhaps some
living in neighborhoods least thought
to contain suoh, whom the prosper
ous could make thoroughly enjoy the
Christmas season.
“Fish on ice sir, called out the
vendor of the “pop eye.” . And so
you will, if you fish at nil,” ejaculat
ed the eat fisherman who had lain on
the river hanks for ilie past three
weeks.
According to Editor Williams of
the llothan Siftings, some women
when they want, a new bonnet will
throw kind words and kisses at their
husbands and others try rolling pins
nml old slippers.
State Treasurer Park by steadfast
ly refusing to pay out the States
money until he bus it to do, deserves
more at the hands of the people than
he is receiving. It is a phonoininal
o icurrem.0 for an official to cling to
the public money bags refusing to
dish out at each opportunity.

have made considerable sacrifice to
furnish them the news, under any
and all circumstances and we trust
that our action may meet their hearty
approval and support. Gentle read

some more substantial action. The
