'.The Court.
Superior Court has been iti session
all the week and the town has been
crowded with people,
Much business has been transacted
and many of the old cases were
disposed of.
In Judge Sweat’s charged to the
grand jury he especially stressed the
law on carrying concealed, weapons
selling liquor against the law, and
keeping up the roads and bridges.
Solicitor Brantley had to ccme over
from Pearson and just did arrive in
time to form the grand jury Monday
morning. I believe that the people
like Col. Brantley better than they do
any man who ever came to this
court. They love him.
The grand jury returned a bill against
i\ J. McDonald for manslaughter.
The State postponed the case and Mc-
Donald’s counsel made a demand for
trial at next term.

was quickly instituted by the marshall,
sheriff and a posse of men and the
county’s blood hounds, but John was
swift of foot and got across, Seventeen

A Telephone For Don f/1 as.
Supt. Lott of the McDonald & 1 tong
las road was i a Douglas Monda y in
the interest of a telephone for
McDonald and Douglas
The Waycross Telephone Cos. lots its
line already to Waresboro and Mr.
Lott thinks that a sufficient number
of telephone subscribed for at McDon
ald and Douglas will induce the com
pany to extend its line on up to these
places. Mr. Lott obtained the .prom
ise of eight phones here and six at- Mc-
Donald and along the line of road.
A telephone or telegraph is almost
indispensible at Douglas and our peo
ple bail its advent with much pleasure.
Crib J lurried.
On Wednesday about three o’cl ode
the corn crib of Mr. Joe Paterson who
lives about four miles from Douglas
was destroyed by fire
The crib ban about 250 bushels com
in it, and the whole was a. total loss.
It is supposed that the crib was set
on fire as there wa,s no oilier probable
way for it to catch.
Deduced l'.ates.
Mr. Walter Lott requests us to say
that the McDonald and Douglas road
will give a rate of one cent a mile to
the delegates to the Sunday school
convention which convenes at Doug
