FOR REPRESENTATIVE.
To the voters of Carroll County:
After having, the matter, under con
sideration for several weeks, I have decided
to become a candidate for the Lower branch
of the next General Assembly. My candi
dacy is subject to the August Primary.
Having been in public life, in this county,
for more than 20 years I deem it unneces
sary to canvas because a vast majority of
the voters of the county are acquainted with
me, I therefore, know of no good I could
do by canvassing. I wish to say that I will
highly appreciate every vote cast for me
and if elected will represent the people of
this county to the very best of my ability.
W. D. Hamrick.
FOR REPRESENTATIVE.

No Flies on this Albany Citizen
Plant honeysuckle vines in
your yard if you want to get rid
of fLies.
This is the advice of Mr. J. W.
Joiner, sr., of this city.
In Wednesday’s Herald Mr.
Joiner read a clipping in which
the statement was made that
flies would not go near honey
suckles. When he read the
article, Mr. Joyner says he in
stantly realized the cause ot
something that often puzzled
him.
“At my home,” said Mr. Join
er yesterday to a Herald report'
er, “we are never bothered with
flies.” The same is true at mv
son’s home, next door. I have
often wondered why we were
free from this pest while ou<‘
neighbors always had trouble
from this source. But as soon
as I read that article in the Her
ald, I knew what to attribute
our good lortune;to. All along
the fence between my home and
the home home of my son a huge
honeysuckle vine grows. The
ordor of the honeysuckles is
poison to the fly, says the article
in the Herald. That explains
the whole absence of the flies
from our homes.”
This local demonstration of a
truth that has been given wide
publicity through the press of
the country will no doubt con
vince many citizens of the bene,
fit to be obtained from planting
honeysuckle vines about the
house. Near the kitchen win.
dow is a splendid place to plant
these vines, and if they can bn
planted near both front and
rear entrances ot the home, flies
will be a thi«g unknown when
the vines grow large enough to
be effective as a fly preventive.
