CARROLLTON, CARROLL COUNTY. 8EORQIA. THURSDAY. JULY 8 i911
Have You Looked Into the Matter‘d
Of An Office In This Building •
yj/ AVE you ever thought what part prestige and
reputa.ion play in business success? If your
firm is thought to be successful and prominent in the
business world new bu&inees will come your way. The
old saying is, “Nothing succeeds like success,” and its
truth is demonstrated every day
The question is not so much what you are ac
tually doing in a business way, but rather what people
THINK you are doing.
If you are conducting your business in a shabby
musty office in a cheap locality, your business will be
judged accordingly. You will not be looked upon -as
being on the bounding wave of success.
Some few by Lheir masterful aoility, may attract
new customers though surrounded by such unattrctive
conditions, just as some men can wear shabby clothes
and yet be considered prosperous, but the great ma
jority, especially the beginner, cannot afford to take
such a chance.
If you are doing business in the mcst up-to-date
builking in the city and amid surroundings thrt have
every appearance of prosperity, you will be the recipient
of an entirely different opinion from the world as to
your success. New customers will come to you. Your
patrons will look on you with a much more favoring eye
The very fact that you are in The First Nation
al Bank Building will mean more to you than
you realize in a business way.
Rental covers heat, light, janitor service, and
ice water. Only one bill to pay. Think it over.
C. A. LYLE, Renting Agent.
E VEN a dog saves. Why don’t you start
a bank account? It is a qatural instinct
with every living creature who does not
perish with a season to save something for a
time of need. Saving is one natural instinct
which everyone should follow. Civilization
provides the bank, a better place for saving
than nature has ever provided. Why don’t
you s art a bank account today.

Commissioner Braswell Resigns
Effective August 15th
On Wednesday, July 5th, Com
missioner of Roads and Revenues
G. P. Braswell tendered his resigna
tion to Gov. Hoke Smith to go into
effect Augusf 15th.
Mr. Braswell has made the county
an excellent Commissioner, always
doing his duty without fear or favor,
and has placed the affairs of the
county on a business basis, giving
every part of the work his personal
attention, thereby saving the county
thousands of dollars during the three
years he has served.
While we regret that Mr. Braswell
has seen fit to resign we do not
blame him in the least for the re
sponsibilities of the office 81*6 great,
and the salary, $1200 per year, is
too meagre for the services of a man
who. like Commissioner Braswell, is
capable of attending to the affairs
of the county in the right way, and
should be raised.
We presume that an election will
be called at an early date to fill the
vacancy and that a number of can
didates will announce for the job

Recital First Baptist Church
On last Thursday evening the con
gregationand friends of the First
Baptist church were given a delight
ful musical program by Mr. George
L Hamrick, Organist and Miss Sadie
Merrell, Soprano. The grand new
organ was at its best, and these tal
ented young people brought great
joy to the appreciative hearts of
pastor and people. No church can
make boast of a finer organist, and
no pastor could be more proud of
this fine young man who is always
in his place and ever an inspiration
to preacher and congregation. The
splendid gifts of Miss Merrell are
well known in Carrollton, aud her
promise of exceptional usefulness is
a source of great pride to all her
many friends. There are several of
the young people in the First Bap
tist church each one of whom the
pastor hopes to see as delightfully

He’s One of the
City’s “Finest”
DO YOUR RECOGNIZE HIM?
He’s the traffic officer who stands
each afternoon after the hour of 4
o’clock in the maelstrom of passing
vehicles of all sorts at the intersec
tion of Peachtree and Edgewood ave-
une and keeps ’em straight.
Recognize him?
His name don’t matter. He knows
it. So do his fellows on the police
force. So do his friends they’er
enough.
But his face? Everybody that ap
preciates quick, efficient, courteous
police service knows that. It will be
recognized even though it .is repro
duced here in minature, by every
body who has ocasion to pass in the
stream of traffic by his assigned sta
tion in the late afternoon.
He’s good enough for New York-
maybe too good. He’s good enough
for any of them that brag on their po
lice force. Unhappy, he’s not typical
of the entire forre in Atlanta.
He keeps his coat buttoned and
his clothes pressed, and a shine is al
ways on his shoes and another shine
of another kind is always on his face
He’s clean and neat and stands up
straight. He looks like Atlanta
police buve good right to look,
And more than that he’s on to his
job." He’s 50 per cent on general
appearance and 50 per cent on ef
ficiency. Total 100.—Atlanta Jour
