A Department.
It U proposed by some or tbe
firemen ol this city to organize a
department from the several com
panies. The plan is to have dele
gates appointed from each compa
ny, who will act with the chief and
assistant in all matters pertaining
to tbe welfare ol tbe different com
panies. In other cities this has
been found to be of great service
to the companies in equalizing
work, aud for occasions like a
tournament or contest a depart
ment is almost indispensable.
The matter will probably come up
before the companies at their
meetings Monday night.
