Bitten by a Spider.
Through bloood polsning caused by
a spider bite, John Washington of Bos-

which became a mass of running sores,
bail he nntibeen'persuaded to try Buck,

Americua 8hrlners, Nobles of Also
Temple, haye received a royal ukase
from Potentate Cntti of Savannah or
dering the Faithful to gather at the
oasla of Columbus on Monday next,
where the mystic shrine will be set np
and the camel herd corraled.
For It Is told that there awaits many
unregenerate and unwashed who fain
would enter the temple and partake of
camel’e milk and manna along with
the ffiltbfulof Alee.
And these will walk the hot sands
and ride the sacred elephant in due
form of inquisitorial decree, as admin
istered by the nobles. !
The ukase received here, couched in
choice Arabic reada thualy:
“K« Salamu Alclkum ceremonial ses
sion, Alee Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S.
oasis of Columbus, Desert of Georgia,
ltamadan, 8th Month of the Hegira
1324, Kratwhlle called Monday, 8th, of
April, 1807."
The potentate sets toftli the'glitter
ing fact that:—
“Alas! alas! Man is never satisfied
and In tins day truly this saying is
verified. Shriners have a goodioyal
time and give flreely of their bounty to
the poor, cheer the sorrowful and wear
that glad nine Inch smile; but they are
after allvmly mui."
The potentate then goes on to recite
the fact that the Shriners have recently
visited Valdosta and Cordele. giving
tho glad hand to the unregenerates and
where if-iny novices were admitted to
thh rankfnf Alee.

“The Blood Ls The Life.”
Science has never gone beyond the
above simple statement of scripture. But
it has illuminated that statement and
given it a meaning ever broadening with
the increasing breadth of knowledge.
When the blood is "bad" or impure it
is not alone the body which suffers
through disease. Tho brain is also
clouded; the mind and Judgement are
effected, ami many an evil deed nr impure
thought may be directly traced to the
Impurity of the blood. Foul, Impure blood

Plants Have Well Withstood Recent
Gold Snap.
Farmer, of Sumter and adjoining
counties coming to Americus yester
day brought more reassuring reports
regarding the efiTect of the recent cold
weather upon the young eotton and
trult crops. For a lime it was feared
the cotton crop had sustained serious
injury but the reluming warm weather
yesterday revived the drooping plant
and/dt seems to have withstood the
fteeze all right. The pencil crop is still
on the cafe side, and nt all danger of
lato freezes passed w'.th the March full
moon we are now reasonably assured
an abundant yiold of delicious peaches.
