LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period Nov.
10-16, 2021.
On Nov. 11, Dep. Anthony Redding spotted Jeremy
M. Ennis at Reliable Mart and watched as Ennis ran
the stop sign at Grove Street while leaving the area.
Redding activated his lights and Ennis pulled back
into the convenience store. Ennis got out of a truck
and began to run.
Redding pursued him and Ennis gave up when Red
ding threatened to use his taser. Ennis then told Red
ding Amber Smith, 18, was in the truck and needed
help. Redding went back to the truck and found a
handgun which he secured in his patrol vehicle.
When he got back to the truck, he found Smith un
conscious and a two-year-old child screaming trying
to wake her up. Smith had allegedly overdosed. Para
medics arrived and brought her back using Narcan.
Smith’s mother was contacted to come get the
child. A BPD officer located a hidden compartment
under the passenger side console in the truck. In the
compartment was a green Crown Royal bag which
contained a large amount of cash, a quantity of meth
and a set of scales.
Smith went to jail charged with trafficking in illegal
drugs. Ennis, 38, was arrested on charges of traf
ficking in illegal drugs, possession of a firearm by a
convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the
commission of a felony, possession of drug related
objects, cruelty to children and obstruction.
On Nov. 11, Dep. Mike Womack was dispatched to
Barnesville Animal Clinic where he met with Dr. Mark
Korb. Korb had security video which showed Cathy
D. Hamlett, 57, dropping off two kittens at the back of
the clinic while it was closed for lunch.
Hamlett was arrested on a charge of abandoning a
domesticated animal.
On Nov. 12, Sgt. Michael Brayton was patrolling
1-75 South when he spotted an erratically driven
vehicle. He pulled up beside the vehicle and noticed
the driver had in earbuds and was holding his phone
which is illegal in Georgia. Brayton stopped the ve
hicle.
The driver, Francisco Posada, had a beer in the
vehicle that was still cool and a cooler of beer in the
back seat. He had stories that did not match up and
gave permission to search the vehicle.
He admitted there was a large amount of cash in
a safe under the back seat and opened the safe for
Brayton. The cash was bundled in a manner consis
tent with drug sales.
K-9 Figo alerted on the safe and the money was
seized. Posada was given a receipt for it and released.
The cash amounted to $19,995.
On Nov. 14, Sgt. Bossie Davis met with a man
whose son was bitten by a dog at a birthday party at
a home at 115 Belleflower Way. There was Ring video
of the dog biting the child and witnesses reported the
dog had bitten a little girl prior to this incident.
A property owner said he saw a male leave with
the dog before Davis arrived. A case file was opened
on the matter.
