A prominent colored preacher of
Dougherty county had flic misfortune
of quarreling with his wife. During his
penitential probation thereafter he catno
across a small bug of red flannel securely
sewed within the pillow upon which his
reverend head had reposed. Thereupon
he concluded he lmd been conjured, and
this was the cause of liis domestic nn
happiness. His first impulse was to ;
throw thebagintotherivor. Hechanged |
his mind, however. a:-:d took the conjure |
hag to Mayor Wilder, of Albany, who j
reassured him by the information that \
the true purpose of the bag was to re- j
store harinouy in a divided household.
This had the desired effect, and husband ;
and wife are now in the bliss of a re- ,
newed honey moon. —Atlanta C'onstitu- ;

•‘Well,” remarked a young m ( in to a
group of friends, “the only girl I ever
really loved is to bo married the 10th of
next month.”
“Too bad, old fell,” said a member of ,
the party. “Yon have my sympathy.”
•‘You know the old story about as
good fish in the sea. don’t you?” In
quired another. f
“Why don’t you punch the Inokv fel
low?” Asked ft pugilistic member “and
prevent him from coming to time at the
wedding?”
“Who is the lucky fellow?” Asked a
fourth member of Hu gathering.
“If von would only give me a chance
1 will tell yov». Hhe is to mi-r/y me.”
—The case of tlic state vs I. J. Davis, for the

fore Esqr. IV. J. Daley, at Lotliair last week
resulted in Davis being bound over to tlio Su
perior court in a bond of a thousand dollars,
for manslaughter. Miller was killed on elec

The tluecn at Cabbage Soup,
Maria Henrietta, queen of the Bel

ago asking her to come uud see her ns
soon as possible. The queen had her
j ponies hitched to the culcche, which
| she always drives herself, and set out at
: a gallop. Overtaken by a storm, her
majesty took refuge in a barrack. Bo-
I ing mess hour, the ollicet's set about im
! prevising the best dinner they could for
j their august visitor, but the queen re
fused, saying: “A newly-arrived recruit

Just Look at This.—
We want everybody who ow-s us one cent to !
come forward, without waiting to bo specially
called upon iu person, and pay us. We are
straining every nerve to raise the money nee- >
ary to move oiu family to this place from up- I
per Georgia, and we need every cent. It will
inconvenience no one to pay us the small sum
due us, but nil those small sums put together,
and paid, would enable us to be re-united with
onr family, none of whom we havs over seen
sinco we first came among yon last spring. We
shall probably ncr.fr bo in such a strait again.
Think of our condition, and help ns. Wo shall j
consider those who respond to this call as our !
personal friends.
This is not intended to refer to those who
have recently subscribed or renewed, on time. i
