WAV NFS ltd I to, GA..KKPTKM HER 21. 1883.
TIIK INSOLVENT COST HIM,.
The hill which was introduced in
the House by Hon. Jesse Wimberly
at the solicitation of Solicitor-! {on-
oral Wright, passed the House and
went to the Senate where, we un
derstand it was tabled. This is,
however only rumor, as cue report
is that it has already passed both
branches of the Legislature.' This
bill, so far as we are able to learn
its terms, provides for the paynion 1
of all insolvent back costs by the
county, and if it becomes a law will
saddle a debt of live thousand dol
lars or more upon our people. No
notice seems to have been taken of
the bill by our county authorities or
any one else until it was actually
on its passage, and possibly too late
to stop it. Our Representatives
should have more watchful than to
have allowed this heavy burden to
be laid upon the shoulders of their
people, while, in our opinion, Mr.
Wimberly deserves censure for its
introduction—it was carrying cour
tesy too far, he should have had
nothing to do with it.
