A BLESSING
In this Mfe a gift we are possessing,
That’s Mr}. 801 l Weevil and his bles
sing;
.A.’tho he has come to eat the cotton
And ted us there’s something we’ve
forgotten.
Why did Mr. 801 l Weevil eoir-e cur
way,
And make all business a stand still
today?
Was it because wo were liy'ng t i
fast,
Making church work i our lives the
very last?
To plant cotton we know it does rot
p:iy,
For it makes; our bank account- a de
lay. . „
We know that they are not going to
leave,
Sc .let’s go to work with a 'rolled up
sleeve. s j:v. a*
We can’t put them in a pen and keep
them there.
Because we do not have the time to
spare.
j Shall all the farme-rs gather into a
banf!
And think of other things to plant
| oa the land?
But of our plans, thV is the best of
all ~ , •' rs-ffn-rt f
For us to surrender out lives as Paul;
And put God, our Father, first in ev
ery thing,
And respond to the ’ church bells as
they ring.*
Then we wi'l see’"wide -white fields
everywhere,
With the farmer;; all busy from year
to vear. -,
Then the Weevil will say, '‘Let’s
leave, leave, leave;” V
Arid we’ll say, Let’s roll down our
filecve, sleeve, sleeve.”
