The Y. M. C. A. exercises last eve
ning at the Presbyterian church were
well attended by the older people.
We had hoped to see a largo num
her of young men. Mr. Golden’s re
marks were well received, his theme
being “Danger Recognized but not
averted.” Ho pointed to our young
men many dangers to which they
were exposed, but which they did
not seem to dread. lie is a gifted
speaker.

The morning E. T. V. <fc G. pas
senger train carried out a large num
ber of raftBmcn who had come over
to the city from Darien. They each
carried the usual implements, a piece
of rope, an auger with a long handle-
and the ever present axe, and among
the crowd the saw, aud the never-
lcft-beliind raftman’s bugle. They
were a hard looking set, but then it
takes just that sort of fellows to
work up this indtistiy—without them
the timber trade of this country
would die out.

Sportsman’s Paradise-
Some twelve or fourteen Atlanta
gentlemen will reach the city Mon
day next, en route to Cumberland,
“the sportsman's paradise,” as friend
Wrenn of tho Cumberland Route
calls it. These gentlemen nre on
their annual fall visit to Cumber-
laud to spend a week in recreation.
'Among the number will be Judges
illycr and Van Epps, Solicitor
Bricn, Mr. Hemphill of the “Con
st!,” and several others. Mr. Wrenn
will join the party here and go with
them down to the Bunkley Hotel
which will be their headquarters.
