More Veterans Eligible
For VA Automobile
Grants - Certain veterans
of World War I and some
peacetime veterans, as
well, may now be
eligible to receive VA
automobile grants
similar to those that have
been available to certain
disabled wartime
veterans since shortly
after World War 11.
Georgia Veterans
Service Director Pete
Wheeler said that a new
law signed by the
President in October,
extends eligibility for the
VA automobile grants to
certain disabled veterans
whose military service
ended prior to Sept. 1940.
Under this program,
the VA will make a one
time payment of up to
$3,300 toward the pur
chase of an automobile
for veterans with service
connected disabilities
resulting in the per
manent loss or loss of use
of one or both hands or
feet, or permanent im
pairment of vision of both
eyes to a prescribed
degree.
"In addition," Wheeler
said, "the VA will pay for
special adaptive
equipment for the
automobile or other
conveyance, such as a
van, if it is deemed

to visit their nearest
office of the Georgia
Department of Veterans
Service.
The Georgia State
Department of Veterans
Service office in Warner
Robins is conducting its
third Annual Veterans
Supermarket. The
"Market" will be held in
the Warner Robins
Recreational Center on
Watson Blvd., from 10
a.m. until 5 p.m. on
Thursday March 23.
The "Supermarket"
will afford Veterans,
their spouses, their
widows and their children
to obtain the latest In-
formation and assistance
from a large number of
social, and public service
organizations; all
available at a single
location.
