Miss Ethel Linch, wno is an as
sistant teacher in the Folkston
school, left last Friday night for
her home at “Eatonton, and will
spend the holidays with her home
folks.
Several citizens here visited Jack
sonville Monday. Among them was
L. E. Mallard, the man always
leady to get off a joke. They all
made an agreeicent after they had
supper to come back on the first
train, ; j

Mr. Mallard to take first train. Hoi
was not seen here until Tuesday A.

The Kennedy brothers are busily
engaged shipping wood from their
place to Jacksonville
Mrs Everhart and cnildren, of

ny, She will spend the winter here.
B, F. Granger’s bungalow oa
Chestnut St., is nearing completion.
Theirs is the first bungalow to be
built in Homeland.
The ladies of the town are busy
arranging and preparing tor the un
ion Christmas dinner to be served
in the dining room of the Thomp
son Hotel.
Mr. J. P. Robinson, of Folkston,
is clearing his tract of land he re
cently purchased from the Colony
Co., east of town. He wants to
plant it in ‘taters.”
Mrs. Rosa M. Foy purchased for
ty acres east of town last weck,
Mrs. Foy is a Red Cross nurse and‘
expects to erect a sanitarium all

Tuesday was the last day of
school after four months of p-blic
and one and one-half months of
private school. Miss Rena Smith,
of Folkston, being our teacher. We
all wich to thank her for the energy
she nas shown in advancing our ht
tle children as far as sh: has, for we
think she has donc extra well.
We expect to havs our public
school ready for the first Monday
in January, and we are glad to hear
that Miss Smith has agreed to teach
for us again, |

The people of Homecland, now
have a preacher among them, and
religious services are held twice a
%month; every first and third Sun-l
‘days, at eleven o’clock, and sevcnj
o'clock in the evening. Rev. T. A,
’ilhomps(m 1 their pastor. On
‘Wednesday cvening’s at seven
‘Vg’clock they hold a prayer service.
They have organized a Sunday
School, which meets every Sunday
morning at ten o’clock.
Every one is interested in the re
ligious work and good services are
always held.
They have not yet built achurch,
but hold their services in the colony
building, which is a nice bujlding
and neatly arranged. They expect
to have a church soon.
We are glad to sce the people
there taking: these steps, and we
trust they will prosper, and that
their coming and living among us,
will prove a benediction to our en
| tire community,

three applicants for the solicitorship
of the Brunswick Circunity to which
office Col. E. L. Walker. of Black
sheas, now dead, had been elected.

Douglas.
