merce, conferred with the Com
missioners of Nassau county over
this matter last Wednesday. Mr.
Keen, the chairman, was perfectly
willing to talk about the matter,
stating that he had graded to
within four miles of Dinsmore a
thirty foot road, and that it was
1 good shape, *“The trouble is"

county has over spent her
county road - fund, and we have
been unable to get them to do this
work. Now lam ready to help
them get this road built thru

A man giving his name Capt,
Walker, and who has been about
here for a monrh or six weeks, was
arrested by Sheriff Mizell, last
Wednesday at the baseball game
and turned over to the Sheriff of
Fort Meyers, who was on hand
ready to take him back. He was
charged with house breaking, and
skipping his bond.
Prof. W. M. Wilson, has accep
ted the school at Germantown in
Camden county, which is a splen
did school lasting seven month.
He will take charge and open the
school in Septamber. Prof Wil
gon is a splendid educator and we
are glad indeed that he secured
this school. He made a good rep
vation at Uptenville last year
and did more for that school than
has been' done for it in a long
while.

MR. J. F. BLAKE, DEAD
Expired Suddenly at St. George, Tues
day Night of Heart Failure.
Col. J, I Blake, Cashier of the
Bank of St George, died Tuesday
night, at 11;30 o’clock of heart
jailure He complained of an
attack of acute indigestion Sate
urday and was feeling unwell but
his condition was not considered
serious at all, Mr. Blake has
been a citizen of Saint George for
the past six years, and was honored
by his people withthe eitytreasurer
position, and was a school trustee,
and ex-office justice of the peace,
~ Funeral held from the Baptist
church, Wednesday evening at
four o’clock services by Rev I’ E,
Waldrup. Quite a number of
people attended the last rites,
burial in Oak Grove cemetary,
He leaves four children, Melvin
Blake, of Montana, Mrs, N. B,
King, of Saint George, J. I*. Blake
Jr. and Leo Blake, of Jacksonville,
besides his wile,
His death was quite a shoek to
Suint George, and occupving the
position that he does, his demise
will prove quite a loss to the town,
To his family the Herald extends
