Atlanta Sept. 12—Will Georgia
indorse the proposed prohibition
amendment to the constitution
of the United Stat s?
The United States Senate has
passed a resolution submitting
to the states a prohibition amend
ment, and the national hou-e of
representatives is expec ed to
pass the resolution not later than
December, which will then make
it ready for action by the various
state legislatures.
Meanwhile, under the auspices
of the Anti-Saloon League of
America in co-operation with the
leagues of the state, a nation
wide campaign will be waged for
thejadoption of the amendment,
which required the endorsement
of thirty-six state legislatures to
become apart of the federal con
stitution.
In Georgia the ctmpaign will
be launched this week and will
run through November 19, with
more than 350 meetings address
ed by some of the most promi
nent prohibition campaigners in
the country.
Georgia already stands in the
forefront of prohibition states
with a bone-dry law that is
among the most drastic ever en
acted. but the question now be
fore the state is whether she will
indoise the proposal to place
prohibition in the federal consti
tution
