JUST AS WE SEE THEM.
Monday was a beautiful
balmy day, and even the old
“stogies” were enticed to come
upon the streets- It was just
such a day that candidates en
joy, and they were out in full
force. Standing in our office
door and looking toward th
courthouse we counted eight
men sitting upon the ( < loafers
bench,” six of them being candi¬
dates, another the chief marsh¬
al of the city and the eighth a
most worthy gentleman upon
whom office is more than likely
to be thurst before the cam¬
paign is over. Just such a
“mourner’s bench” we never
before had the delightful pass¬
time of contemplating. They
were all in a most wonderful
good humor and finally disper¬
sed without bodily violence be¬
ing inflicted.
Speaking of candiate reminds
us to say that we have a man
in Conyers whose mind hath
never run office-ward, He
easily remembers the planting
out of the earliest shade trees of
our town but never, to our
knowledge, sought the suffrage
of the people or yielded to the
alluring whisperings of desire
for office—we allude to Mr.
James D, Winburn, He lias
always been contented with a
good song book and an old-time
spirit-awakening prayer meet-
, Electric lights would place
Conyers in the foremost rank
’with country towns. Should
the authorities order an elec
tionas to bonds for lighting our
city with electricity the ques
tion would be quickly settled by
the people one way or the other.
We believe they would call for
the lights by a handsome ma
jority.

CONYERS, GA., SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 1896.
The fishing season is close at
hand and we have a suspicion
that some of “the boys,” mar¬
shaled by uncle John Taylor,
will wage incessant war upon
the fianies in old Yellow river.
(tSoCT illey, the young man
veteran takes life, and may be
anything else, as it comes, and
the great wonder is that he
never took a wife. Some of his
friends privately suggest that it
is a case of “blighted affection.’
If you would learn the early
history of Conyers and provide
yourself with accurate data con¬
cerning events of the very ear¬
liest settlement of this section,
just engage our antiquated be¬
loved, and honored friend, Jas.
Hudson, in conversation, His
memory is still green and his
volubility continues to lend a
peculiar charm to his interest
personality.
ConyeiM has a big lot of clev¬
er men within her bounds.
They are not all alike in demon¬
strating this admirable trait,
but it comes out in different
ways according to the time-im¬
memorial peculiarities of the
human race - Among the many
real clever fellows, we might
mention Mr. Jas. P- Tilley,
brother of the locally renowned,
Mr. Geo. Tilley. Jas. P. Tilley
is one of the 11 vest business men
in oar town and he carries his
enterprise and liberality along
vnthium. ... , -
All candidates cultivate the
ar fc 0 f hand-shaking—we pre
some it is right and proper they
should, and this reminds us of
the many different styles of this
particular custom of greeting,
0 ne meets with. For instance
there is our friend Luther Al
niaud who, we believe, would
finally succeed in breaking

is well that Luther is not a can
didate.
Mr Jes: o. W. -Jones, way down

It is expected that several

round Conyers real soon. It is
known that four or five of our
widowers and bachelors are
really on the anxious bench and
are making faithful efforts to
change their state. We would
proceed to name them but their
delicate sensibilities might be
displeased and they demand of
us “that satisfaction one gen¬
tleman accords another.”
Col. Simpkins ha3en’t lived
in Conyers always but he is fast
becoming known by all the peo¬
ple, and those who arc acquain¬
ted with him invariably admire
him. He is pleasant and sociable
with those he has met and if
you don’t know him, meet him.
The Chas, Broadway Rouss,
of our town, whose tender age
is almost sufficient to arouse the
muse in spring poets in Decem¬
ber is a gentleman of great
worth to our town. He has re¬
cently adorned one of his show
windows with silver and gold
( he must be a 16 to 1 ) to be
distributed among five of his
most fortunate customers.
Alien is a veteran advertiser
and knows full well the value
of printer’s ink. We couldn’t do

*
There is a gentleman in our
town who may be termed an
habitual smiler. For sure we
do net know, but it is our opin¬
ion that lie must smile some¬
times when all alone.' His is a
sunny disposition that
be the envy of those characters
who are strangers to smiles and
pleasantry. If you would like
to bask in the sunshine of the
smiles above mentioned see Mr.
Green Hull at J. J. Langford’s.
Considering the very near ap¬
proach of the political campaign
Sheriff Austin is the coolest
man we ever saw. There is
nothing akin to anxiety in his
appearance and it is the assump¬
tion of many that his mind
runneth not altogether upon
politics and county office just
at this juncture. However this
may be he makes a good officer
and is a mighty nice man.
Editor O'Kelley, our school
commissioner-elect, will enter
upon his new duties April 1st.
Editor O’Kelley is well fitted for
the position and will make the
county agood officer.
Charlie Cain is a clever fellow,
and it tickles his fancy to talk
Ufe-insuraace. Whenever yon
meet him he has time to tell
you why you should buy a poli
cy if you have time to listen
, f yQu are bugy he doesn’t in

Dr Melt(m is not a candidate,
ueifcher is he likely to become
ong ^r e judge by the infor
q Ue ncy of his visits to our sac
turn. However, he seems to be
a warm friend and associate of
our Congressman, and therefore

The above letters are taken from many received by us. p. P. P M ( Lippman's
Great Remedy ,) is a medicine whose virtues are known from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
p t p, p. begins its work by purifying the blood, which is the source of all life,
aud does not cease until a perfect and entire cure is effected.
The mortifying eruptions that disfigure the complexion, the tired feeling that pre¬
vents thorough accomplishments of the daily tasks, sleepless nights, loss of appetite,
irritability of disposition, all mean a derangement of the system consequent from
impure blood, which can and will be cured by P. P. P.
