INSURANCE LICENSES
ARE AGAIN DISCUSSED
The tax committee of council met
again Thursday afternoon, again dis
cussed and heard discussed the ques
tion of raising the license for Insur
ance brokers, and again adjourned
without having reached a final deci
sion.
The committee haa Increased the li
cense tax tb 8200. This raised a storm
of protest from Insurance broker*.
Thuraday afternoon W. P. PattlUo and
C. C. Hatcher declared the broker a
free lance, and asked that the high li
cense be adhered to.
W. T. Wynn, an Insurance commis
sion worker, declared a 8800 license tax
exorbitant, and likely to drive him out
of business.
When this was said Mr. Hatcher Im
mediately offered Mr. Wynn 81,600 to
come with him, and said he would pay
all the licenses. This was refused, and
Mr. Hatcher offered 81.800, which was
also turned down.
The Atlanta Hotel Men's Association
was represented at the meeting. The
hotel men objected to a raise over the
present license tax of 850. The com
mittee Is considering a graded tax for
hotels, running from 885 for 85 rooms or
less, up to 8150 for 200 rooms or more.
The license for labor agents was
fixed at 8800, no license to run for less
than a full year, and none to be trans
ferable.
