■HOLLY BERRIES FAKES
<•11. I »r. Wiley . Dr. Wiley, can't you
pass a pure Christmas law?
See what an Atlanta man discovered
today. Tills year's holly berries are
mere painted imitations:
China berries, dried until tiny are
shriveled, and painted a brilliant red.
That's straight. Pull a berry from the
wreath in your parlor window ami In
spect it elosely.
Think what this may moan, you Sons
of Santa you Christmas <•< lebrants!

Go put it back where you got It. It's
best to take no chances. Slip back to
her house and 1 eturn the stolen goods,
If you hav. Io do It right under her '

Fainted holly berries! Why, they
ought to be arrested for—
W alt a minute. There are extenuat
ing circumstances.
My little girl is a cripple,” said the
obi man who sells holly and mistletoe
on an uptown corner, when he was
taxed about putting over a fraud.
"Every Christmas for years she has
mama little money by making holly

wreaths Her brothers and the girls
around the neighborhood brought her
holly branches, and she spent all the
week before Christmas making the
wreaths.
"But tills year there were no berries.
The trees had been stripped so often
that they had given up trying. And
you folks won't buy holly without tin
bright red berrie- to brighten the
wreaths.
“So one of the boy s had a bi igiit
idea. He gathered ’all the china berries
he could find left on the trees, bought
my little girl a can of crimson paint
and she made berries in plenty for tla
holly wreaths. Everybody says there
are so many more berries this year
than usual. Now. do you want yout
money back?"
Come to think of it, perhaps there's
a- much Christmas spirit in red berries
painted by a little cripple as in those
Dame Nature put in the trees. Real
holly is always skimpy, anyhow.
