Several Big Deals
Reported Wednesday
Announcement Soon of Interesting
Transactions—Realty Looking Up.
Marietta Street Lease.
Reports of big sales in realty cir
cles have taken the place largely of
news of the medium-sized transac
tions. and are proving infinitely mo r e
interesting. An investor, for Instance,
has bought an $80,000 parcel that he
will hold for enhancement, and an
owner has refused more than half a
million on a downtown comer. An
other dealer, it is reported, has sold
a handsome dwelling on a North Side
street between the Peachtrees, and
j has refused a flattering offer on cen-
i tral property wanted by a syndicate
j for Improvement with a substantial
| building.
I There are other signs of returning
' activity In real estate, and the deal-
j ers are very optimistic of a heavy
fall business. Details of the above
transactions are expected to come
out in a week, when they will be
ready for announcement. Other trades
are in the contract stage.

Chamber Directors Meeting.
The directors of the Chamber of
Commerce Realty Company met Tues-
| day afternoon dt the Chamber of
I Commerce rooms in the Empire Build
ing and decided to fix a price on the
: four top floors of the Chamber of
I Commerce Building so that this price
i could be submitted to the local com
mittee of merchants and manufac-
i turers. The directors are meeting
again Wednesday afternoon to flx this
I price definitely, and a report to the
other body is expected at once.

M arietta Street Lease.
Mr. Rankin, of the Smith, Ewing
. & Rankin Renting Agency, has an-
i nounced the lease for a term of No.
164 Marietta street, a three-story and
basement building, to the Atlanta En
velope Company for a client, at about
$3,000 a year. The building contains
about 20,000 square feet of floor space.
Meeting on Realty Loans.
A subcommittee of the State Leg
islature has taken hold of the bill to
repeal the bill of 1910, which pro
hibits loans of State and municipal
funds on real estate. Committees of
the Atlanta Real Estate Board ap
peared at the Capitol Tuesday after
noon to present arguments in favor of
the repeal, and they received a warm
reception.
Certain bond dealers who are inter
ested in having the bill remain as en
acted also appeared. Speaking of
their argument. Harris White, presi
dent of the Atlanta Real Estate
Board, declared it was “weak."
Concrete Buildings Planned.
Two concrete buildings will soon be
erected by the syndicate interested in
the Walker street development. These
structures will face on Walker street,
where the new Southern Railway tracks
will pass, and will he used fo»* whole
sale and manufacturing purposes. More
than twenty applications for space have
been received by the projectors. Among
those in the syndicate are W. S Mc-
Kemie, Tom Stocks, W. J. Blalock and
Ernest Duncan.
Judge Dori A Pardee recently ap
proved a connection between the At
lanta. Birmingham and Atlantic and the
Southern at this point, and the work
can start at once laying tracks from
the Southern to Ilayneg street.
