To-night the Mayor and member* of the

sworn in, to serve until their eoccemors are

For the ttiat-time in the history ol AtitaU,
there wilt be negro representatives oe the board

Your wall-timed and Judicious remarks, in
your paper oi yesterday morning, in relation to
“ Atlanta and her government,'' should merit
the bighett commendation of tvtry Well- wisher
in the community. They met with my most
hearty approval. Assuredly the time bu come
when men, who are to fill official stations, and
are to exercise authority and be a “ terror rf evil
doers,’* should be of that east of character which
all men would delight to honor as worthy of
imptki confidence by *l( of their fellow-cltixens.
It, upon the contrary, men are pat into impor
tant stations by those who have the appointing
poster, wtoare utterly unfit and iacoatpsUnt
lor the posilkins they hold, then it isbut reason
able to conclude that (Be censure of a whole
community must rest alone upon those who
have recklessly made the appointments. For
the thtnre security of the city, and the protec
tion of alt cles.-es, 1 hope the Conned will guard
well the interests of the poor. B.
