It was the celebration of Miss Isabelle
Fleming’s twelfth birthday and Miss
Lucy Fleming’s tenth birthday which
occasioned the gathering of the little
folks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Fleming on Miledge avenue, Friday
The decorations in pink

predominated in the dainty refresh
ments. Among the amusements for
the children, was dancing, a cake walk,
a theatre Cinderella and cutting pac
kages from a string while blindfolded.

Mr. George Booth, of Madison, was in |
the city yesterday.
Two bams, belonging to Mrs. Price
and Mr. John W. Hinton, were burned
to the ground yesterday morning at an I
early hour, in the neighborhood of the j
Normal School.
The fire department made a fine run I
bnt the scene was folly one and one-half
miles from the engine house, and the
flames had gained snch headway by the
time the firemen arrived that they could |
not be checked.
Both bams were large and were stored I
with forage, making the loss to either |
party heavy.
The fire is supposed to have originated I
from the spark of a cigarette in the |
hands of a negro employee at Mrs.
Price’s who smoked continually while |
working about the premises.
