The K. of P.
Yesterday was field day with the
above organisation. Last night waa
their “big meotln’,” for the Grand
Cbanoeilpr waa present and instruct
ed the Lodge in the secret workings
of the order. The K. of P. have fit
ted up a hall over Mr. Morris Michel-
son’s store in nice style, and last
evening honored the occasion with a
nice spread, whioh was enjoyed by
all present Grand Chancellor Hun-
niout paid the Lodge quite-a compli
ment Said they were fully alive and
in fine working order, and had a rep
utation away from home; said Qglo
thorpe Lodge was known abroad. The
Colonel is a member of soveral organ
izations, but thinks the K. of P. a
little ahead of all the rest. He left

with him pleasant recollections of the
city by the sea and her noble
.Knights.
How Much are You Worth?
The assessors are now in the field,
and woe unto the man that has been
putting on fresh paint and more style,
they will get him every time. Lay
ing all joking aside, however, • we
would suggest that as a matter of
faot more property 1b assessed below
than above actual value, and this re
fers more to the better class of prop
erty than to the poorer. The great
object to be aimed at is to even up
the matter as much as possible so as
to bear equally upon all in the mat
ter of taxation. The task is no easy
one, and all due allowances should
be made by our people.

$10,000. The Scnato has passed the
bill giving At that sum, and it is
quite probable that the hill will be

good reason why the House should
