nual Christmas benefit for
the needy Saturday, Nov.
14, beginning at 1 p.m.
Featured singers for the
event will be Allen Green
and Friends, Borned Again,

rizon Singers, Stephens
Sisters, Crossroad Singers,
Cornerston Strings of Praise
and the Gospel Travelers.
There will be raffle tickets
available for cakes, pies,
meals and merchandise.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, bar
becue, chips, nachos and
soft drinks will also be avail
able, organizers said.
•Mt. Zion Baptist Church
in Royston will host a ben
efit singing Saturday, Nov.
21, at 5 p.m. The featured
groups will be Lazarus Un
wound and The Goodwins.
The singing is for pastor,
Rev. David Gibson, who re
cently underwent surgery to
remove cancer of his vocal
chord, church leaders said
and all proceeds are to help
cover his medical costs.
There will also be hot dog
plates sold.

Church will have a chicken

munity Center. “If you find
that you are in need of a toy
for your child(ren) for Christ
mas this year, Gordon’s
Chapel may be the place for
you,” church leaders said.
“We will once again host
our toy give-away for needy
families.” Please take note
that this year’s registration
is different. Registration will
be on Nov. 14 only at the
community center — there
will be no phone registra
tion, church leaders em
phasized. Those in need
must register for assistance
with toys on this day. More

to pick up toys will be given
at registration, church lead
ers said.

ter is hosting a local relay
center for Operation Christ
mas Child, a ministry to pro
vide a shoebox full of toys
and necessities to a needy
child in another part of the
world. Collection dates for
the relay center are Nov.
16,17,18 and 19, 6-9 p.m.;
Nov. 20 and 21, noon-7 p.m.
and Nov. 22, 1-4 p.m. The
community center is locat
ed 4.5 miles south of Com
merce on Hwy. 334 (take
Hwy. 334 to mile marker 8).
Any individual or group can
participate by filling a shoe-
box with a few toys and ba
sic necessities and deliver
ing it to the Relay Center.
Operation Christmas Child
will then hand deliver the
gift with a gospel message
of the plan of salvation in
the child’s own language.
“Every day boys and girls
worldwide suffer from war,
poverty, disease and natu
ral disaster,” organizers
said. “Operation Christmas
Child makes it possible for
millions of these children
to experience God’s love
through shoeboxes filled
with gifts by people right
here in Northeast Geor
gia.” In 2008, with the help
of many caring individuals
and groups, organizers said
Operation Christmas Child
touched the lives of more
than eight million children
