Perry resident
is honored by
Mayor Worrall
Mr. Earl Lewis was recently
honored by Mayor Jim Worrall for
his many years of dedicated service
to the Perry community. Mr.
Lewis has served on various city
council advisory committees as
well as having served for many
years on the Perry Housing
Authority. The citation presented
to Mr. Lewis stated that he had
contributed generously of his time,
talent, wisdom, and advice in
making the City of Perry a better
community in which to live.
Mr. Lewis has been an active
member of the Perry United
Methodist Church, having served as
chairman of almost every key
committee. A long time member
of the Perry Kiwanis Club, Mr.
Lewis has served as its President as
well as being its representatives to
Chamber members invited
to attend May 25 breakfast
All chamber members are en
couraged to attend the next Good
Morning Perry Breakfast to be held
Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30 a.m. in
the Fairview Room at the
Agricenter.
The program will be a retail
business update from representa

A retirement dinner was held at
Perdue Elementary School at 6:30
p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, honor
ing the following Houston County
Board of Education employees who
are retiring. Their names, schools,

Community invited to participate in ACS event
The public is invited to partici
pate in the Relay for Life opening
ceremony and relay service which
will both be held Friday, May 20.
Sponsored by the Houston
County Chapter of the American
Cancer Society, the 24-hour relay
being held to raise money for cancer
research will begin with cancer sur
vivors walking the first lap of the
relay around the track at Perry High
School at 6 p.m.
A luminary service will be held
at 10 p.m. Individuals can purchase
luminaries in honor or in memory
of someone and participate in this
event.
Besides those two services, 17
teams of dedicated citizens repre
senting businesses, schools, social,
civic and religious organizations
will walk for 24 hours to raise
funds for ACS.

•Richardson-Free Realty
•Northrop (two teams)
Earl Lewis
the Perry Club Council.
In addition to his interest in city
activities and affairs, Mr. Lewis has
shared his leadership with the
remainder of Houston County
through his membership in the
local Farm Bureau organization.

Reservations will be accepted
through noon Tuesday, May 24 at

Wilden Reeves Dannenberg was
bom on Friday, April 29, 1994 to
Richard and Laura Dannenberg of
Perry. His grandparents are Emory
and Eleanor Reeves of Macon and
Walter and Aggie Dannenberg of
Macon. Wil has three older sisters,
Dorothy, age 7, Ellie, age 5, and
Leah, age 2.
Zachary Shane Touchton
Zachary Shane Touchton was bom
on Saturday, May 14, 1994 to
Robert and Vickie Touchton of
Perry. Maternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hamilton of
Jacksonville, Fla. Paternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John
Touchton of Waycross. Zachary
has three older sisters, Lindsie, age
9, Natalie, age 4, and Abbie, age 2.

Candlelight dinner raises funds for epilepsy
A candlelight dinner was held at
the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Leverette on May 10, 1994, to
benefit the Middle Georgia Golf
Classic for Epilepsy.
The delightful dinner was pre
pared by Mrs. Leverette to help
raise donations for the Epilepsy
Foundation of America, Georgia
Chapter, in an endeavor to start a
support group in Middle Georgia
for Epilepsy patients and their fami
lies.
The golf classic will be held
Friday, May 20, 1994 at Houston
Lake Country Club.
The guest list included Mr. and
Mrs. Dick Kistler, Mr. and Mrs.
Draper Watson, Mr. and Mrs.
Barney Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Billy
Beckham, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Lawson, Dr. and Mrs. Bill Jerles,
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bloodworth
and Mrs. Shirley Sichelstiel.
Waiters for the evening were Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Klein, Dot Kistler
and Joe Leverette.
The seated banquet began with
hors d'oeuvres of Mexican
Pinwheels, Asparagus Roll-ups,
Garden Dip and Cheese Straws fol
lowed by an appetizer of Saute'
Mushroom Caps on Italian Bread
and an Orange Walnut Salad.
The entree was Shrimp, Chicken
and Broccoli served with a creamed
sauce. Stuffed yellow summer
squash, Basil tomatoes and
Cloverleaf Rolls completed the de
