‘Cook of the Week’
Brooks finds mom’s
dishes to be ‘tasty’
BY PAULINE LEWIS
Staff Writer
The Houston Times-Joumal’s
Cook of the Week is Donna Fuller
Brooks, wife of Greg Brooks. They
have three children Jennifer, Brian
and Matthew.
Donna and Greg are natives of
Alabama; she of Andalusia and he
of Evergreen. Their parents were
friends, so she and Greg have
known each other all of their lives.
He served in the U. S. Navy and
correspondence with Donna led
eventually to their marriage.
Donna graduated from Lurleen
Wallace Jr. College in Andalusia.
Greg is a graduate of Auburn
University, who majored in
microbiology.
Greg’s job with the Miller
Chemical & Fertilizer Co., S. C.,
brought the Brooks family to Perry.
He is now self-employed at
Sportronics, located along Langston
Road, and Donna has been
employed by Dr. Larry Dan Stewart
for three years.
Daughter Jennifer is married to
Keith Beck of Cochran, and they
live in Atlanta. She is a graduate
of Perry High School, and received
an associate degree in nursing from
Clayton State College at Morrow.
Her hobbies are piano, cross
stitching and reading. Keith will
receive his Master degree in
Industrial Engineering from Georgia
Tech in September
and is employed at Georgia
Baptist Hospital in Health Systems
Management
Son Brian, 17, is a senior at
Perry High School and is interested
in computer drafting. He works on
cars and motorcycles, water skis and
likes hunting and fishing.
Son Matthew, 13, is an Bth
grader in Perry Middle School. He
likes any kind of sports, especially
baseball, hunting and fishing.
Donna’s hobbies include sewing,
enjoying the out-of doors, boating,
water skiing, working with young
people at First Baptist Church, and
singing in the Adult Choir.
Greg’s hobbies include hunting,
fishing, water sports and
woodworking. He, too, is active in
First Baptist Church, as are all the
family except Jennifer, who is no
longer a resident of Perry.
The following recipes are some
of the family’s favorites and Donna
hopes that you will enjoy them,
too. She says that you may
substitute no-fat or lite for all of
these recipes. “Greg’s mom is a
good cook”, Donna said, which is
evidenced by her use of
Grandmother Brooks’ tried and
trusty recipes.

favorite of Brian and Matthew)

6 breasts.)
Use 2 packages of crescent rolls.

1 8-ounce cool whip
Beat together softened cream cheese

Combine the above ingredients.
Cook over low heat until thick.
