Visitin’
changed vet. James Stephen
(Steve) and Benjamin Bronson
(Bronnie) were born Sept. 9,
1951.
Marian’s mother had a twin
brother and Marian followed the
Eattern of every other generation
aving fraternal twins in having
hers.
Steve graduated in business
from the University of Georgia
and is married to the former
Mary Cawthon. They have three
sons and own a moving and stor
age warehouse business in
Fcrnandina Beach.
Bronnie was diagnosed with
kidney failure while attending
Georgia Tech but was able to
graduate with a mathematics
degree from the University of
Georgia. After working more
than 15 years at Robins Air Force
Base as an electronics engineer,
he retired with a disability in
1996.
He and his wife, Helma, a
native of Germany, live in
Bonaire where she assists him
with home dialysis.
Bronnie enjoys growing plants
and is an avid reader. Lately he
has been reading everything he
can find on the Civil War, study
ing it in depth. He has found
details of battles fought by his
two great great grandfathers.
Jimmy and Marian had
another two boys, Allen and
Wayne. Allen works for
Motorola in Seguine, Texas and
Wavrie lives in Fernandina
Beach, married to the former
Luelle Parkinson, with their two
boys. He is president of Nassau
Terminals and Luelle teaches
fourth grade.
It’s a good thing for her five
men that Marian loved to cook
and was good at it. In their retire
ment home on Lakewood Drive
she still enjoys cooking and was
glad to share one of her favorite
recipes with us.
Lazy Daisy Cake
3 eggs, broken in mixing bowl,
beat well.
Add 1 1/2 cups sugar, beat until
lemon colored.
Add 1 1/2 cup plain flour, sifted
with 1 1/2 teaspoon baking
power and pinch of salt. Mix
well.
Add 11/2 teaspcxyi/vapilla.
Bring to a boil in saucepan
3/4 cup milk and add 3 table
spoons butter. Set aside while
butter melts and add to batter.
Bake in greased 9x12 pan at 350
degrees about 25 minutes.
Chocolate Frosting
(Tastes like cooked fudge)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
3/4 -1 pound box xxxx sugar
Put first five ingredients in
saucepan, bring to boiling point
and cook on medium high heat
for 3 minutes. Remove from
stove and cool slightly. Add
chocolate syrup over xxxx sugar
in mixing bowl and beat with
mixer until smooth. Add vanilla
and chopped nuts if desired and
spread on cooled cake.
Marian says you’ll have just
enough frosting left over to
refrigerate to later spread atop a
square pan of brownies.

Heartfelt sympathy to Bobby,
Laurie and Robert Jones and her
own family upon the death of
Bobby’s sister, Susan Lee of Fort
Valley, Jan. 21.
Nov. 12,1998, Susan spoke to
a luncheon meeting of Peachbelt
Medical Alliance members about
her experiences of having a bone
marrow transplant.
As a survivor of leukemia she
very much wanted to educate
others to what is involved in
becoming a donor. Peachbelt
Medical Alliance was aware of
the need for a local testing site
for a bone marrow donor registry
right here in middle Georgia and
deeply appreciated Susan’s input.
As a result, bone marrow
donor recruitment drives will be
held Jan. 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at
Houston Medical Center and
Feb. 6, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at
Houston Health Pavilion at
Houston Mall sponsored by
Houston Healthcare Complex,
Peachbelt Medical Alliance,
American Red Cross
Houston/Middle Georgia
Chapter, Warner Robins Rotary
Club and Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority.
Anyone 18-60, in good gener
al health and not excessively
overweight can potentially
become a volunteer marrow
donor. How?
v 1. You learn about marrow
donation and give a small blood
sample.
v 2. Your blood is tested to
determine your marrow type. You
are listed in the National Marrow
Donor Program Registry.
Y 3. You are contacted if a pre
liminary match is found. Yvith
your permission, you are tested to
determine if you are an exact
match for a marrow donation.
Y 4. You decide whether to
donate.
Y 5. A small amount of your
marrow is collected through a
minor procedure performed
under anesthesia.
Persons interested in becom
ing volunteer marrow donors
should pre-register for the drives
by calling 923-9771. The cost is
$45.

Middle School students plan Jump Rope For Heart
ByALLINEKENT
FortheTimes-lournai.
The students of Perry Middle School are jumping at the chance to help fight heart disease and
stroke.
The school will host its first Jump Rope For Heart event Feb. 13. Students will jump rope to raise
funds for the American Heart Association. These funds help support cardiovascular research and edu
cational programs.
Jump Rope For Heart teaches participants about the importance of a healthy lifestyle that includes
regular physical activity, proper nutrition and living smoke-free. It also gives the students a chance to
discover they can make a difference.
Coach Anna Henry, coordinator of the event, said that already 28 Perry Middle students had signed
up to participate. Students will be asking for sponsors who will in turn donate financially to the event.
For more information or to participate, contact Henry at 988-6285.
