For the kids, don’t over look the
Rainbow trout fishing hole. Kids
under the age of 12 get to fish
Rainbow trout for free! This is the
Georgia Wildlife Federations way
to encourage children to get
hooked on fishing. For many of
them, it will be the first time they
have even tried to catch a fish.
Its also time for the 6th annual
Georgia outdoor news cast off.
Sixteen nervous weekly winners
from Don’s 1998 fishing contest
will compete in a casting contest,
with the winner driving away a
fully rigged triton bass boat pow
ered by a Johnson outboard. Last
year at the Perry Fisharama a
crowd of anglers surrounded the
60 foot long casting pool to watch
the drama unfold as the winner of
the boat was decided in a sudden
death castoff. Don’t misa the
excitement, suspense and die
drama of this years casting compe
tition at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday
afternoon, Feb. 14.
There will also be a turkey call

MACON Tattnall’s Mandy
Stovall managed to hit a three
pointer when Tattnall needed it
the most here Feb. 6 as the Lady
Trojans jumped out to leads of 10
points or more in the first half,
then had to hold off a furious
fourth quarter Westfield rally for
a 58-56 non-region win.
Stovall hit two of her six three
pointers as Tattnall took a 16-10
first quarter lead. Julee Todd
scored six for Westfield in the
second, but her baskets were off
set by two more 3-pointers by
Stovall as Tattnall opened up a
26-18 halftime lead.
In the third, Lina Arnold
sparked a 10-point Westfield run,
and with 3:50 left in the quarter,
the Lady Hornets had pulled
even at 30-30.
Before the quarter ended, the
Lady Trojans went on a run of
their own, holding Westfield to
just two points over the rest of the
quarter while scoring 14 of their
own.
