“It was outstanding,” said
Mary Beth Owen, wife of
Warner Robins Air Logistics
Center Commander Maj.
Gen. Tom Owen. “I can’t
believe how much effort
went forward.”
Owen, one of three judges
in the annual contest to rec
ognize some of the outstand
ing bears, said, “I had no
idea there would be more
than 400 entrants. It was
fabulous. It was a lot of
fun,”
Patsy Reeves, director of
contracting, told the par
ticipants, “because of your
efforts, 400 items will be in
the arms of children this
Christmas.”
Capt. Jennifer Queener
of the Salvation Army said,
“what I see here is a bet
ter Christmas for families.

hands of children, we allow
the spirit of Christmas to
come to their home, while

At the end of the tour, they
will gather in the church’s

will be answered, and
Christian counseling will be
available to those seeking it.
The event is free and open

Queener told the volun
teers, “thank you for your
help. Children will wake up
knowing Santa didn’t miss
their house this year and the
parents will be able to take
of what needs to be done.”
Queener said the Salvation
Army helped 305 families in
2005 and has 364 this year.
She said the bears and stock
ings are put in bags for a spe
cific child, and are picked up
by families on Dec. 22. “It’s
one of my favorite times of
year. In my eyes, a family
sees a better Christmas and
I see the a community that
wants to help. It fills my
heart with joy.”
Reeves noted the annu
al contracting workforce
Christmas project had 281
bears and stockings in 2000.
“The 400 exceed any previ
ous year by 50.”
She attributed the bigger
