We nope the stockholders of the Miliedgeville Hotel
will burry up and decide whether they will rebuild, or
sell out and let others hni'd. We are told there are
parties ready to take hold and build immediately
soonas they can get a title. In its present position the
property is unproductive. The interests of the people
and the stockholders both demand immediate action.
For tue Union ami Recorder.
Mettrt. Ed,tors: When Capt. Williamson was
nominated by the Democratic pm ty it was unanimous
ly voted and agreed by Hie Democratic party that on
Wednesday the 4th of December, 1872. tbe Demo
crats should meet in Miliedgeville and nominate the
several county officers. On tlmi day a very large
number of the people of the couuty had assembled
for that pa:pose; l.fit for some unexplained reaeon
the meeting voted to refer the question ot nomination
to the several districts of the county. With this idea
that each district should send three delegatee to a
County Convention to meet at Miliedgeville on Wed
nesday the 18th December, 1872, to select candidates
tor tbe county offices.
Now as a citizen of Baldwin and a Democrat; 11
is it fair to disappoint the people nnder the Besolution
of the party which nominated Captain Williamson
on tbe Hth September, 1872?
Secondly. By tbe last Resolution of tbe Democrat
ic party is it just to call a Convention ol the seven
districts of the couuty, without regard to the popula
tion of said district*. As an illustration of the case I
respectfully call attention to the population of the
respective districts i f Baldwin c >uety, ns taken from
the last census returns-
The following figures show the injustice of the ap
portionment as declared 1-y the Democratic meeting
in Baldwin county, which sugge.-ts THittr delegates
from enefc of the coviU'y districts, cud nirrlrom the
town disiriot. By that agreement Gillum's district,
which has tile people will have 3 votes. It so, then
Salem District, !78t», vhould have 8 1-2 votes.
