Last Wednesday evening just at
dark William Rogers a small boy
about eleven years old, and the on
ly child of a widow, was instantly
killed by a south bound E. T. V.
A G. freight train.
It appears from the evidence of
two witnesses, and the surround*
ing circumstances, that the boy had
either climbed or was attempting
to climb on a train that was just
pulling into a siding at Dallas.
One of the witnesses, a woman,
states that she told him he had bet
ter keep away from the train and
that he replied that he would ride
to the depot. The train passed on
and as she was walking on the track
just behind it she saw the mang
led body on the rail.
The head was entirely severed
from the body. The right thigh
was finished from the hip to the
knee and the foot turned up under
the right arm. The right arm was
cutintwoabout the elbow and the
left hand was cut off. There were,
of course, other slight bruises.
No one knows exactly how lie
caine to fall under the car, but it
was one of those slips that any one
is liable to make who attempts to
board a moving train.
The remains, after being neutly
prepared by the rniloud authorities,
wore interred in the Dallas ceme
tery.
Miss Lula Hurst, the “Georgia
Wonder,” wus married the 9th
inst. to Mr. Paul M. Atkinson of
Madison, Ga. Mr. Atkinson was
stage manager for Miss Lula during
her tour over the country two years

An Agricultural paper figures it

An Atlanta “wine room" keeper
has been convicted and fined 81,000
for allowing his wines to be drunk
on the premises. The ( court ruled
that a man must buy his domestic,
wine and drink it elsewhere than
in these wine saloons.
