Kinchafoonee Primary School
Students Get A Taste Of Spain
On Wednesday, October 31,
the 1st and 2nd grade classes
from Kinchafoonee Primary
boarded buses and headed to
Lee County High School to
enjoy the Theatre Works
production of "The Story of
Ferdinand." This production
company travels from New
York throughout the United
States. The story was originally
written by Munro Leaf in 1936.
Walt Disney created the movie
in 1938. Ferdinand is a bull who
enjoys smelling flowers rather
than fighting with the other
bulls. Mistakenly stung by a
bee, he is seen as a ferocious
competitor and taken to the
bullring in Madrid. Of course,
there he chooses not to fight as
well, preferring instead to smell
the flowers the Spanish ladies
were wearing. The message of
Ferdinand is one of individual
ity and being true to one's self.
Following the play, Mrs.
Pasteka's Challenge classes
extended this learning experi
ence and applied their knowl
edge of Spanish to the real
world by having lunch at El
