Quitman’s Compress.
Quitman, Ga., July 21.—I he
Quitman Compress Company was
organized to-day. At a meeting of
the stockholders held this morning
J. S. Coyle, Jr., was elected presi
dent ; S. S, Rountn vice-president
Mr. Hutchins, who has been with
Coles Simkins & Co., in Brunswick
general manager, and A. W. Groover,
treasurer. The work of erect : ng the
press is being rapidly pi-slu-d, and it
will sonn be ready for business. The
people in adjoining counties are ex
pressing their intention of bringing
their cotton to Quitman. It is ex
pected that the high prices the com
press will enable her to pay for the
fleecy staple will increase tier receipts
several thousand bales.

Tuesday afternoon. A chase will
