long since learned the pleasure and con

THREE DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS WHO SECURED
APPROPRIATIONS FOR ATHENS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS-
The legislatnre of Georgia has ne t
made;appropriations to the University of
Georgia in any considerable sums except
in three instances.
The first of these appropriations was
made when Hon. George O. Then ns re
presented Clarke comity in the Genera
Assembly. With the 1-45,000 appropri
ated at that time tho 8ciei.ee Hull
building was erected and other im
provements made.
The second was when Hon. Wylie B.
Burnett represented this county in tic

Halls were ereoted and agricultural de
partment Improved.
The third Is the appropriation jist se-
cored through the efforts of Hon.

these gentlemen the S'ate Normal
School bae been the reoiplent of consid
erable aid at the hands of the state,

Mr. Harbin came to Athens from An-
